Kanye West's mother has died at the age of 58 after complications resulting from surgery.

Kanye West with his mother, Donda
Dr Donda West died in Los Angeles as the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure, according to the BBC, which cited her publicist, Patricia Green.

The 30-year-old hip hop star's spokesman said: "The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief."

West is believed to have been in London filming a video for his new song Homecoming when his mother died.

He has made no secret of his admiration for his mother, often bringing her to parties and awards shows and made reference to her on all of his albums.

On his 2005 Late Registration album he raps: "Hey Mama, I wanna scream so loud for you, cuz I'm so proud of you / Let me tell you what I'm about to do, Hey Mama / I know I act a fool, but, I promise you I'm goin' back to school / I appreciate what you allowed for me / I just want you to be proud of me Hey Mama."

Although widely known as the mother of Kanye, Dr West had a 31-year career as an English professor, eventually chairing Chicago State University's English department before leaving academia in 2004 to help manage her son's career.

In May she published the book Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star.

RIP

The fact that he's the only Liverpool striker worth tuppence certainly makes him look good.  Kuyt and Voronin are akin to Championship standard versions of Mark Hughes, leaving you with no effective back up for Torres.  Don't expect him to dig you out of a hole at every time of asking.

Do you think Torres would get a game for Salford Reds?

Neither could be classed as strikers could they?

Maybe the likes of a loan signing...Adriano anyone?

Adriano had a big problem with the booze last year when he wasnt playing for Inter so im not sure having Fergie as a manager would help him in that regard  :D

From what I heard, a 19 year old was knocked out cold by a 'mentor' for very little reason.
I cannot confirm this 100% though.

Well when we played them a couple of weeks ago the only ones on the line i could see were Aidan Hamill and Jim Connolly, there was maybe other ones but i didnt know them

Rossa well beat by Ballygalget.
Am I hearing right about a bust up in the changing room?

What happened? Did Aidan Hamill say he had just signed a ten year "golden handcuffs" deal ?  :D

heard that liam watson is back on the panel. great for antrim if he plays this yr with the right attitude.

Usually when the words "Watson" and "attitude" are used in the same sentence the word "bad" is also mentioned. In fairness he is the best forward in Antrim and they will need all the help they can get this year. I hear the turn outs are not great at training.

Ah well, same old Browns. Had a chance to beat Steelers and blew it, Anderson threw for 3 TD's but only 127 yards. He has to be the biggest surprise of the year and if he keeps this play up the Browns may have to think of trading Brady Quinn for a 1st Round pick next year as they need help on defensive side of the ball.

Torres is, as i said a while ago, an Henry for Liverpool. He'll score you 25+ from next season on.

You are a bit like me O'Neill, always right. Aye he seems to be a cut above most players in the premiership, he always seems a couple of steps ahead of the defenders.

There has been talk for ages that Crouch will go in the transfer window, if they get decent money they should let him go. I dont think they will be paying £20 million for anyone in January, deals of that magnitude are almost always done in the summer. As for players being cup tied for Champions league, well it may not matter by then !

I wonder did Donal Og have the laptop out at that press conference? While reading Brian Corcorans autobiography there wasnt a chapter went past without "Donal Og took his laptop out and studied his poc outs".............

Who said it was science J70? I dont think he is anything other than a squad player, and hopefully Benitez will get someone in during the transfer window, and since you ask i dont rate Crouch or Kuyt either.

Donal Og takes swipe at the media
10 November 2007

During yesterdays historic announcement GPA Chairman Donal Óg Cusack held no prisoners when he lashed out at the media and the people paid to cover matches.

The Cork goalkeeper was in defiant mood at yesterday's conference and criticised the hypocrisy within the GAA.

"If ye really believed nobody should benefit finacially why don't ye do the same as GAA players and go to games on Sundays, submit your stories and then go away and do a job nine to five Monday to Friday, or a couple of nights work like players are.

"There is a man there up in the north, I see, Joe Brolly, does Joe give his paycheque from RTE or his newspaper back to the grassroots or go to the man cleaning the dressing rooms and say 'look that's for you', I don't think so.

"People are saying players shouldn't get money but they're being payed themselves," concluded Cusack.

Voronin is not really in there as a finisher, though, is he? He plays as the striker who drops off. He did a lot of good stuff today, and was very unlucky with the shot just before he was subbed. I thought he had a very good game, miskicks or not.

He may not be there as a finisher but when someone plays as advanced as that you want him to be able to put the ball in the net,if Carragher misses a few i wouldnt be worried as that isnt his primary job but when one of the strikers misses as many as Voronin you will have problems. What happens when we play United, Chelsea, Arsenal etc when you wont get 5/6 clear cut chances and a gilt edged one falls to Voronin instead of Torres.......

The UDA want some of that gravy that is flowing up and down the length of the Falls Road for "community work", 30k per annum.....Qualifications needed - none other than being an ex-criminal.
