I've made an awful habit of speaking too soon especially on here  ;D

Not Slaughtneils best performance but stepped up when it mattered. Big performance from Portaferry.

gallsman

Awful harsh on Portaferry, and McGrattan in particular missing a few frees down the stretch after having had a stormer but fair play to Slaughtneil. Don't think they were at their best and they found a way to win. They'll be hard stopped and think they're a match for any of the other three teams.

The two monster points from O'Miánain after they conceded the late goal worthy of winning any match.

Sheedy

Obvious to say but the 2 goals swung the match, big second from slaughtneil. Gutted for portaferry.

Hard luck to our neighbours but they didn't sort out their achilles heel at the back...They conceded 2 soft goals against us as well and also a few against Ballycran. Those 2 goals killed them although they did get back in front with a good goal of their own from 18yo Coleman.
They might get another crack next year but other than Coleman,  they don't have much else coming through the youth ranks.  This was their best chance IMO.

Well done SN, they could argue they pulled out the win without playing well and whilst being not being treated lightly by Sars, Cork men being Cork men will believe they've one foot in the final already and that will work in SN"s favour.

Saffrongael

It was a bad fade out from a scoring perspective too, 1-2 in the last 21 mins including injury time
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Sarsfields were very impressive today, the winner of their game v Slaughtneil will be my favourite for the final.

I see pp have Na Fianna as favourite to win the All Ireland, I think they will struggle v Loughrea.

DownFanatic

I'd be a casual hurling fan but I enjoyed both the Munster and Ulster finals yesterday. I can't get my head around Portaferry. They were in complete charge and I even think they were 8 clear at a stage. After that first goal for S'Neil went in it was basically a capitulation for the Ports. They logged a good few wides and their basics began to let them down. Momentum swinging in hurling is much more prevalent than in football. I'd say this defeat will haunt Portaferry for awhile yet.

ardtole

Yeah, they were 8 ahead in or around the 45 minute mark. The club games on rte and tg4 this year have been very enjoyable in both codes.

It would take a very foolish team to underestimate Slaughtneil.

Ports started off with a serious intensity and pushed Slaughtneil to their limits.

I wondered if they could maintain the intensity as they would need to do so to defeat Slaughtneil.

The 2 goals were the turning point and as Johnny Cool mentioned from his intimate knowledge of all things Ards hurling, the Ports defence was their Achilles heel.

Portaferry were rocked and Slaughtneil shifted up a gear, scoring 2-9 in the last quarter.

NAG1

Portaferry left it behind them, lack of experience at this level cost them unfortunately and SN were the exact opposite. Hung in the game even playing below par and got over the line. Standard of the game well below the semi-final but this was to be expected.

Couldnt see Ballygunnar being stopped at all this year and definitely not by that Sars team, but fair play they brought a level of intensity that was so far unseen. Massive achievement to beat that BG team on a big open pitch. Fairly throws it open now.
