I thought it would have been Parnell Park as Ulster V Munster semi finals would have been there in the past.

When was the last time a Cork team won Munster?

I remember Newtownshandrum back in the 00s but surely someone has won it since then.

Quote from: bennydorano on November 22, 2024, 12:28:00 PMWatched the first episode of Landmen and it looks extremely promising - the scene where Billy Bob asks his daughter about having sex is living rent free in my head, I laughed so hard.

Another one of Taylor Sheridan's, he must be a busy man with the amount of shows he is involved in which are all top quality.

He also had a small part in the first episode of the current Lioness series, looks like a guy who spends serious time in the gym as well.

Quote from: Tony Baloney on November 22, 2024, 11:56:03 PMI dont know the qualifications of the individuals involved but I'd be interested in the lines on the cv of Caral niChuilin, Ryan Feeney and Stephen McGeehan which elevated them to overseeing one of the biggest capital projects the North has ever seen.

They had doctorates in overconfidence and are fully fluent in talking bullsh!t.

Unfortunately, that all too often seems to be a problem across many companies and public bodies - the knowledgeable and competent folks are often a bit quieter and more introverted.

Also, to be honest, in the grand scheme of engineering projects, Casement isn't that complex - they've just made a complete and utter balls of it.
There is nothing fancy with foundations. Or exotic with site access. Or even in the proposed structures.

The new road to Derry would have been, or the A5 will be, much tougher to manage as every time you cut earth, you run the risk of coming across something completely unexpected that totally derails all your scheduling.

Any kind of hospital, or significant hospital buildings, will be far more complex with all the systems and redundancies within.

Agree 100% and once (if) it gets started it will be a relatively straigthforward.

What they really f@#ked up has been the pre-construction stage.

At the end of the day if you were living in a house and you were looking to get planning for and hopefully build a replacement you wouldn't move out until you had your planning through and the money secured.

At the end of the day whoever was or were the geniuses that decided to close it down are the biggest clowns in this whole mess and trust me there are lot of clowns involved in the Casement project.

Quote from: Sportacus on November 21, 2024, 06:22:31 PMThe GAA put the cart before the horse massively.
1. They arrogantly thought the residents would be swept aside and Sinn Fein would fix any problems.
2. They were out of their depth professionally and had no answer when the health and safety issues were raised.
3. They don't seem to understand political leverage.  Only this week they are talking big about "seeing the colour" of the British governments money.  In what world will an untrustworthy British government who have just wheeled out a crushing Budget, do any favours or be pressured by the GAA?

It's just been amateur hour from the start unfortunately.  It needs taken out of the hands of Ulster GAA, get on with it by cutting the cloth according to whatever money is in the kitty, and give it back to Antrim GAA.

What is the professional background of those supposedly steering the ship and making the big calls.  In the private sector (real world) such people as a minimum would need some sort of demonstratable experience in the delivery of multi-million £ capital projects and the ability to manage / co-ordinate the relevant stakeholders.

I might be wrong but I think the CVs of the relevant parties would be lacking in this department but unfortunately in such situations you would never get anybody to put their hand up and say they are out of their depth.

Does not really surprise me, that is almost 3 extra weeks on top of their generous annual leave.

One of the supposed reasons for high sickness level is stress / anxiety, if the job is that sh+t go work in the private sector (real world).  However no chance of that happening.

Someone once said the best cure for sickness is self-employment, they were not far wrong.

With them scaling the project back I imagine you are looking at a complete new planning application and all it will take will be one pissed off resident (who gets free legal aid no doubt) to object and then that circus will start again.

However until you know what budget you are working with you can't get a design substantially complete.

If it was your own house you would not put a planning application for a 4000 square foot house and double garage if you could only afford a 2 bed bungalow.

I would be surprised if there were diggers on site in the next 5 years.

The IDF and their masters are an absolute shower of tramps, if some entity ever decides to put some manners on them it will be well deserved.

Quote from: toby47 on November 12, 2024, 12:26:45 PMKerry's performance coach Paddy Tally is being targeted to become the next Derry football manager.

Former Down boss Tally has been coaching Kerry under Jack O'Connor these past three seasons including 2022 when they claimed an All-Ireland SFC title. He is set to remain with them in 2025 as a performance coach, replacing Tony Griffin.

However, that arrangement could be in jeopardy with Derry believing they may have finally found a successor to Mickey Harte is his fellow Tyrone man and former coach Tally.

After a difficult championship which was preceded by a Division 1 title, Harte stepped down in July and a host of names including former manager Rory Gallagher have been linked with the vacancy in the meantime.

A member of Tyrone's 1995 All-Ireland finalist panel, Galbally man Tally worked with Harte when the county claimed their first Sam Maguire Cup in 2003. He was also part of James McCartan's Down set-up that lost to Cork in the final seven years later. He also assisted Kevin Walsh during his term in Galway before taking over Down in 2018 and later joining O'Connor in Kerry from 2022.

Earlier Tuesday, former Derry footballer Joe Brolly posted on X/Twitter: "Derry board going through the phone book of Tyrone managers. Shameful lack of loyalty to their own. Shameful lack of integrity".

Philly McMahon in with him as a coach apparently. Given where we're at in the process and what's gone on to date, it doesn't sound too bad. Could be a few twists yet though.

It is a fair spin from Ballymun to Owenbeg, big miles though which always helps with the €€.
