Quote from: Milltown Row2 on November 04, 2024, 01:58:03 PMAs I said yesterday Ballygunner didn't panic, stuck to the system and got over the line handy enough in the end, their touch and stickwork is very good and after such a long break since their county final, it was expected that they would be a bit rusty yesterday, away from home also against a not too shabby outfit in Doon

O'Keefe is top class, his deliveries from puck outs and from open play are on the money, he sets up a lot of play, instrumental and other keepers should be looking at whats required, outside of the shot stopping.

I also noticed how Ballygunner used the short stick for passing the ball, sort of palming the ball into play, it worked really well

St Martins were bad enough and can't see them progressing tbf.

Ulster meets Munster this year, not sure which team would be best equipped to give Gunner their fill, they scored 25 points yesterday, and played alright by their standards.

Did Slaughtneil not give Gunner a tight enough game a couple of years ago.

Quote from: Duine Inteacht Eile on October 31, 2024, 11:08:16 PMAlso, a lot of the capacity arguments over the years centred on Casement needing to be at least the same capacity as Clones in order to host Ulster finals.

In 2019, Clones' capacity dropped by 7,500 to 29,000? Just like that....

Why was that?

How would a 25,000 bells & whistles stadium look now? Because they wouldn't have had a problem getting that over the line more than 10 years ago.

There is one "elephant in the room" which has been totally overlooked in all this current debate, namely that of capacity/demand.

The GAA's own Event Management Plan which I quoted above forecasts that there would be precisely ONE sporting event per year which could be expected to fill the stadium to a 32-34k capacity, the Ulster Championship Final:
https://minutes.belfastcity.gov.uk/documents/s92471/APPENDIX%202d%20S76%20Annex%203%20Event%20Management%20Plan.pdf

How can such minimal use ever justify £100m+, esp when there is a (VAT-free) alternative at Clones, while Antrim GAA is somehow managing at Corrigan Park, with it's much smaller capacity?

If people were honest with themselves, they'd have to admit that the elephant is a pure white one.

Not ideal but if you were fortunate enough to inherit a farm with a value of +£1m cand you were struggling to square up HMRC could you just not sell what you need to cover the tax bill?  Is there a timeframe that inheritance tax must be paid within post inheritance?

Not possible and Trump supporters are special kind of stupid.

Absolute nut jobs

On the presumption that Poacher is going to Leitrim does that mean Derry are the only county in Ireland who currently do not have a football manager?

First Gaza, then Lebanon and Iran.  These c@nts just seem to do whatever they want, bound to piss US off, they don't need things getting completely out of hand a couple of weeks out from an election.

Question is will the Iranians turn around and say f#@k this and decide to put serious manners on Netanyahu and his gang.

Been watching C4 news past couple of nights (fair play to them going places other UK channels will not), truly shocking.  If someone does put manners on the IDF it will be difficult to have sympathy for them.

Quote from: ShutterinbyDayGAAbyNight on October 24, 2024, 03:42:21 PMThe state of it all really. Sinn Fein, Alliance, DUP and TUV all acting out like school children. Seems Matthew O'Tooles Christmas has come early.

Meanwhile:
If you want to build houses or a factory in town X, you'll be told no because they haven't invested in the sewage system.
If you're a school principal you'll get nothing only bureaucracy from civil servants in EA and DE who dream up stuff and have nothing better to do.
If you're a small business, the Windsor Framework is probably ballsing up your supply chain because there 'is' an Irish Sea Border.
Lough Neagh is fcuked and there's an 'Action Plan' which is just words.
There's a 'draft' PFG moving at a snails pace.
Still no York Street interchange.
The A5 has taken forever.
The city centre is gridlocked and they close more roads on the mouth of Christmas.

The list is endless, and the whole thing is just codology between SF and DUP - one for me, one for you, and then a bitter squabble over aul chestnuts, with the whole thing on track to collapse in due course because they literally can't make any big decisions.

John Manley in the Irish News today summed things up perfectly when writing about M O'Ns appearance in front of the committee yesterday;

'....We learned nothing new, while merely confirming the notion that on the whole, our political class is not fit for purpose.....'

The word useless does not even come close.

I'm sure the British Government can not get rid of us quick enough.

Would it be fair to say Cuala are the Dublin version of St. Brigid's with Kilmacud being the Carryduff?
