You're both right/wrong. Standards have maybe gone up in the north anyway, social housing is all much better quality and more and more mixed developments are being built which is a positive. Private developments in the last 20 years are a bit of a joke. Builders trying to squeeze as many houses into one site as physically possible, you're left with neighbours living on top of each other with little breathing space and tiny gardens
