Westmeath is a dangerous match but at least we are forewarned having played them last year. It's probably the critical match in the group for us since if we beat them we are almost guaranteed last 12. Management have a big job picking the players up after Sunday now. Barring injuries or knocks I wouldn't make too many changes either given how well we played for 3/4 of the game on Sunday. Maybe just freshen the team up with one or two players. They are quite a defensive outfit as well so it could be worth starting Oisin O'Neill as we will need to be able to pick off scores from long range against them.

Quote from: lfdown2 on Today at 10:22:15 AMBut surely its all relative, while (as far as I can see) at the end of 2023 there was 'cash' of circa €45,000,000 there are proposal capital projects of circa €500,000,000 in the coming years (if Burns is to be believed), as such having cash in the bank is irrelevant.

Sean Cavanagh is an embarrassment. Everyone knows that the GAA is going to have to uprate its contribution to Casement to at least reflect inflation and that would in itself use up a large part of that sum. And even if the whole Euros thing collapses they are still going to have to spend a significant amount on some sort of stadium there and perhaps a refurbishment of Clones if the big scheme in Belfast is reduced. No doubt HQ has to make contributions to the likes of the projects in Louth, Meath and Kildare, that would account for most of the remainder. People are always calling for expenditure on this and that.

See a squad of them on the beer in the Foresters in Lurgan last night, good luck to them, do them no harm.

Yes, was good to see.
Was good to see them letting shackles off. Not a fan of people bringing the children in though for pictures etc, the lads give up alot of time after games to do that for kids win lose or draw should be able to enjoy a few pints in peace after an Ulster Final.

It is surely a stepping stone. It's not really dear at all and you would expect it to get dearer over time. I think they are dipping their toes in the water to see how it takes off.

Quote from: bennydorano on Today at 09:36:35 AMA point I've made about GAAGO a few times is that, to me, it 100% seems like a staging post on the route to semi-pro GAA. Once it gets really established costs will further recede and profits increase. I've no doubt Sean K looks at GAA financial figures throough his previous GPA head - how long before we hear 'GAAGO made €Xm this year and the players who are the product get nothing'  only a matter of time imo.

How is that different than 'the GAA got €Xm from Sky/RTE/TG4 this year...'

I don't necessarily understand the point here (not specifically yours Benny), is it that all games should be available free to air all the time? Or just all the good games? Who should pay for this? Should funds be diverted from capital projects so that people can sit at home with a bowl of crisp and crack open a beer to watch the games?

And Sean Cavanagh has just been completely embarrassed with his hyperbolic statement being called out, I teel you what, based on his handle on numbers I wouldn't be wanting to drop a set of company accounts in to him.
Should be considerably more money generated by having no middle man operator, which should only increase with getting better established / growth and after the initial costs subside.

They could put it anywhere and people would still act the ****. It's human nature. Could have it in ballsbridge and all the poshos would be coming out of the pubs and doing the same.

That said, corner of North Earl Street definitely a terrible location. Shocked it hasn't been vandalised yet.
Porn videos, images of the twin towers being hit, a woman mooning, kids giving the finger while their parents video and laugh... Not so sure that would happen everywhere.

I'm 99.8% confident it would happen anywhere. Rugby boys don't get their arse out? Horseplay! Kearn-age!

I would love to see some lad dribbling basketball style up the field and burying the ball into the back of the net.
But the question is:
how to stop the ball? I mean a player is trying to receive the ball but he wants to bounce it like in basketball, but how could he not caught the ball?
If he stops the ball with two hands, without catching it, is this considered a caught ball?
If he stops the ball with one hand?
How?
The rules are so vagues.
