Would money not have been better spent on this worthy venture rather than spend 500,000 to light up the Dublin sky on a Saturday night.
The fireworks didnt cost 500,000 and the increased promotion helped increase the attendance. Are we going to here for the next 12 months that every time someone tries to raise money for them that the 500,000 spent on fireworks could have paid for it? Sending a band to Boston would hardly be an appropriate way to celebrate 125 years of gaelic games and would do nothing to market our games. The fireworks were a great marketing tool.

Thanks for your comments, but just to clarify some points , if you will allow...
We are not "Sending a Band" to Boston to celebrate 125 years of the GAA.
We have been invited to help celebrate 50 years of the Boston GAA. And that is the reason we are fundraising.
It is entirely appropriate for the band to go to Boston, as for many, the Band are inextricably linked with the GAA, both historically and culturally, (The Band actually predates the GAA...) and for many more, as I have witnessed myself, around the Country, the Band do more for marketing the game, than many would imagine.
Why do you think the Band recieve such invites?
Kindest regards,
Colm
