So folks what do we reckon about 10 year fixed deals, a lot cheaper/lower interest rates than previously. Very little difference in 5 year/10 year fixed deals. Where do we think interest rates are going? Obviously going up now but hard to tell how far and how soon

get 10 year fixed if you know you won't be getting divorced or have to sell your house for some other reason as it will really cost you to come out of the deal.

Yeah won’t be moving or paying it off in that time period, hopefully not divorced either 

I think fixing is a safe bet at the minute.

Yeah I’m gonna fix, just a question of 5 or 10 years

So am i reading it right that the LIV money is guaranteed but netted from tournament wins? So if you've been given 100m to join and win 4m you don't get that on top? Exhibition tour at best if that's the case.

The court case didn't do those 3 guys any favours. There's a real sense of country club entitlement about the whole thing. Just doesn't sit right. If you want to play LIV go and play it. Don't moan about not getting to play on the PGA or in the Majors.

Agree on the Cam Smith thing. Leaves a sour taste.

Surely their neighbours Bredagh would be equally as deserving of financial backing to secure their own club grounds. East Belfast are no more inclusive than any other gaa club.

I'm no economist, but the current rise in inflation, is it not being driven by supply chain issues (Brexit/Russian Oil/Gas) and Corporate greed rather than too much spending and not enough demand?

Raising the interest rates will have a huge impact on those with mortgages and may already feel squeezed by the prices of everything else going up and could lead to a lot of defaulting!

I struggle to see how that is going to reduce inflation.

Are most people not on fixed rate mortgages ?

The recession is not arriving in the 26 counties just yet. The unemployment rate has just fallen to its lowest level in 21 years in July at just 4.2pc and government revenue this July is up 19% on last year, a lot of this is corporation tax but income tax and vat are up also. No doubt there are people feeling some issues with price rises, but by historical standards these are the good times.

Inflation is the big problem! And in general, the cure for inflation involves recession and unemployment.  This is a global issue and the 26 will not be immune.

Should be added, the disruption of Brexit means that the UK is more exposed.

The unemployment rate in Northern Ireland fell back to its record low in the first quarter of this year, official figures suggest. The rate in the period January to March was 2.3%, a statistically significant fall of 1.2 percentage points over the year.

I'd have thought unemployment has fallen in most places? There are loads of jobs available

Still plenty of “economically inactive” here in the 6 counties, those that aren’t looking for work for various reasons

Carson would be early 30s I think. He hasn't been featuring as much in a while which is a big reason Cushendall not competing as much I think.

I think Graffin lives down there yeah.

Carson is an airline pilot so it wouldn’t really be a great occupation for any sort of GAA participation

Compromise ongoing criminal case allegedly….it’s rotten and stuff is being covered. Will come out in years to come when the poor mother has gone off her rocker

I think she is probably approaching that state, and that isn’t a criticism. It would probably be the same for most of us

Almost 1 in 4 people in the  North are classed as poor.
It's in that 42 page doc that is too long to read.

Do you understand the “poor” measurement ? Also it’s a bit muddy with plenty of households of single parents that aren’t really single.
