Looks like they are after Kevin Mcloughlin for Aussie Rules now :(, I hope thats wrong.  I can't see him going though and only hope that he gets an extended run at centre half forward this year on the Under 21 and Senior County team.  This would be his best position in my opinion and I only hope he gets a chance in this position instead of plugging a hole at corner back.

I find that hard to believe, has to be a bullshit rumour.

well he is a talented footballer and is so adaptable that he could play any where, if he were to bulk up im sure he could adapt to Oz rules

He won't bulk up. It's not in him. At least I hope not after this rumour! :o

Its funny a few teachers I know all say they didn't want to strike etc. How did the vote so largely in favour of it though?

Also know a Garda who is all for it and was marching last week in Dublin. I was in shock when he told me his gross salary last year and before his allowances as well. It was criminal in fact.

Can you give a figure?

79% of INTO members voted to strike.

In Mayo Ballina is 096 (extends to West Sligo), Castlebar is 094, Belmullet is 097. I'm not too sure about South Mayo areas. Galway city is 091 AFAIK.

Now, now, I know what Murdich is like. But I just want it for the soccer games instead of having to go to the pub all the time Utd are playing. Jeez, ye're going to reply I'm awful lazy now! :D

Taxi driver on Joe Guffy earlier talking about Coppers and a few other clubs and pubs in Dublin being flat out last night. He said it was like Christmas Eve....he even said that he overheard a  few punters in the back of his cab saying that they hoped that the strike would be on a different day next time as Monday night wasnt the best night to be going out!!

I know this is going to probably get up everyone's noses, but my teaching friends were going daft in Coppers last night. I can see where the private sector anger is coming from, but the private sector were laughing at anyone who took a public sector job a couple of years ago.

In 3 years working in and around Dublin Airport, the amount of taxis out there queueing up for fares today has to be seen to be believed. I asked a taxi driver where were all the extra cars from, he told me teachers and firemen were the majority as they were off today. He was like an anti-christ, he was in the queue for 3 hours at that stage and there was at least 100 cars in front of him. i wonder will the taxi unions have anything to say about this later. Talk about a PR disaster for the public unions. The government must be delighted at this, also, as someone mentioned earlier, the irony of public sector workers spending their money in the North. This is a great little country.

The strike was predictable but the apathy from the various union members is a big surprise.

Is the ICTU tail wagging the public service dog?

They should do this more often, the economy will have taken a shot in the arm with all the shopping while the State will have saved a fortune in pay.

Do you really think that muppet?

Breaffy against Mitchels Under 21 A semi-final will be replayed next Saturday at 2pm in Castlebar.

I never thought I would see it. Unreal

Hgrdly that unreal, I mean the ref blew up early. Just like what happened in 98 in the hurling semi between Clare and Offaly. I see over on hoganstand where a sensible poster who has an acronym used on here now and again has all the motions for the County convention. They're interesting to say the least.

I haven't been paid one cent since September, for my job. I hope it's a nice amount when it comes.
What? why not?

Part time learning support resource teacher. I still don't agree with the strike tomorrow though. I only work for 7.5 hrs per week since I got the job. Dept say it's something to do with the paperwork been left lying around somewhere.

How can one get the numbers? What's the website for it?

Mayo's has to be one of the worst. It could do with having more info on it than just club fixtures.

Sorry for dragging this thread up again. I'm thinking of getting sky into the house myself. The parents aren't happy though but I'm just wondering what is the fee? Would €40 per month  get you the sports package? I was told it would. We have a dish because the old fella cancelled it a few years ago.
They'll stick a new dish up anyway I believe. Check their website for prices you lazy hoor, but 40 would prob get you sports plus another couple of packages.

That'd help alright! :D
