Never did get to Westport!  Looking to do a few days away over new years.  Westport is still an option if I could get decent accomodation at the right price.  Would like to do the North coast maybe Ballycastle, anyone know of a decent hotel up there?

trueblue1234 - Your planning permission probably won't allow anything other than native Irish hedging anyway.  I know native Irish is a condition on my planning.  Check yours out beforehand.

Has anyone ever used the garden design services from tobermore or achesson glover?  I have a bitch of a site and need a bit of help getting ideas for the garden.  The idea of having someone produce a set of plans for the garden sounds good but is it worth it.

Looking forward to this comet in 2013.  It could be brighter than the moon and possibly even visible during daylight.

Cathal Magee is playing some stuff for the Bridge.  He has improved greatly since he was with the county for the McKenna cup a few years back.  He is worth a shot for next season.

Bridge 2.14 Bryansford 1.11.  Micheal Lively and Chris Brannigan got straight reds.
Clonduff 1.11 Downpatrick 1.8
Stone and Kilcoo drew 13 points each.

General discussion / Re: Buzzard Population in Ireland

In the last five years I'd say there hasn't been a day when I haven't seen some sort of bird of prey.  When I was growing up here they weren't around at all.  We have buzzards and red kites here.  The RSBP are interested in Kite sightings so if you think you have one you in your area have a look at this site http://www.rspb.org.uk/ourwork/projects/details/272999-northern-ireland-red-kites#contact   A guy from the RSPB came out to me and identified the kites we have here.  One of the pair was introduced from Wales the other is a chick that was born here.

Happy enough with the Bridge performance considering the five boys in San Fran.  We were really holding onto the game at the end and could have sneaked a draw but Kilcoo were the better team.  The first penalty was stonewall, the second was a bit more doubtful.  Awarded for an off the ball tackle on Benny.

I think its the fact that the other clubs not look at Rangers and think that they were cheating (which they effectively were) to all those titles and trophies. So they see this as the only chance probably to put one over on them for that.

If Celtic fc had indulged in such shenanigans they would surely have been regarded with at least the same ignominy.
The odds are already stacked against the other clubs without one of the big 2 indulging in such card sharkery.
But of course Celtic fc do not indulge is such things, they have built up their club to be stable, almost virtuos, and have adjusted well to the ravages of radically reduced income. Celtic fc are a shining light in Scotland, an example of a great support and a great club, recognised by those who know about such things  ;D

Are Celtic really that financially sound? I thought they had a mountain of debt too?

I hear Benny played 20 mins for the Bridge last night and is raring to be unleashed against Monaghan tomorrow.  All I can say is 'Bring Him On.'

Not true I'm afraid.

The weather forecast for Sunday is fairly bad.  I have tickets for the "Main stand", is it covered?

Speaking from experience don't be scrimping on the tripod.  When we invested we got a cheap tripod (£60) and it really takes away from the quality of the video.  If you call into curry's at sprucefield they have a range of tripods on display.  There is one at £119 which looks pretty good.  They have the cheaper ones there too and you can see the difference in the smoothness when panning around and up/down.

Camera wise we are using a panasonic HDC-SD260 (around £450) which is full hd.  Its just a standard home camcorder but it was a bad buy as it struggles to keep up with the speed of the game and the footage is a bit shaky and you see some shadowing if fast moving sequences.   Also be aware of the Irish weather, is your camera going to be waterproof?  On a wet night I wrap our camera in clingfilm and work away but it can't be good for it.

You should get a video position setup so you are videoing from a bit of height.  You get a better shot of the game and you won't have people walking in front of you.

Getting someone who has a bit of experience behind the camera is a help too.  Too much zooming in/out is bad and steady movements are a must.

One last piece of advice Last Man, don't be the camera man!  Every club game I've seen this season and last season I've watched on a 2 inch camera screen which is crap!
