Quote from: Truthsayer on Today at 05:47:46 PMIs some social media pile-on Forker. Not so much here but on Facebook getting wild touch from ones on bout his job etc etc nasty aul shite from keyboard warriors...
It was a split second stupid hit... Murphy wasn't even injured. I've met him a few times... sound lad as most of them are.

Teachers are often short tempered people so it is no surprise to me. My old PE teacher was a short tempered man who was also a former footballer. I recall him getting sent off on TV too.
Aye that sort of nonsense highlighting his job. I've seen players all walks of life do much worse than that on a football field..

Quote from: BennyHarp on Today at 09:06:10 PMNotwithstanding the stupidity of the actual headbutt, I can't believe that Forker was stupid enough to think that rough housing a player like Murphy was in any way going to intimidate him or put him off his game. You see this shit all the time, how many have tried and failed on Clifford and Shane Walsh? Darragh Canavan gets it too. Forker just made himself look like a complete fool and maybe that's the biggest deterrent for that type of behaviour.
Goes on all the time in football and hurling, it was nothing.. just the head butt to the chest was bizarre... and harmless.

Quote from: HalfBack7 on February 16, 2025, 02:22:14 PMDear members,

We regret to inform you that Glenelly GAC have decided to withdraw from the current amalgamation agreement following a meeting tonight Thursday 13/02/2025.

Our committee met on Tuesday 11/02/2025 and at that meeting we had a unanimous decision to continue to honour the current amalgamation agreement.
The reason for this decision was based on the committee wanting to have consultation with our members before making any significant decisions.

Following this, we engaged with Glenelly to indicate that we were keen to continue the amalgamation agreement for all age groups, both boys and girls.

A meeting was held tonight Thursday 13/02/2025 with both committees represented. At this meeting we reiterated our intentions clearly from the outset that we were willing to uphold the current agreement.  On conclusion of the meeting, Glenelly informed us that they were not in a position to amalgamate at any age group.
On departing the meeting, we wished them all the best for the year ahead.

We understand that this may raise questions, therefore we will host a discussion on Saturday 15/02/2025  at 10am at the club rooms for anyone who has any queries.

We are a newly formed committee and we will be preparing and regrouping for the future.

We thank you for your patience and your understanding as we navigate the new footballing year ahead.

Above is a message to the Gortin members from the new committee.

Did the previous committee not step down due to the pressure from a group of parents about not wanting to amalgamate at minor level? Now they get into positions in a new committee, and make the exact same decision they were against that started the whole issue. Only for Glenelly to tell them to clear to f**k!
You couldn't make that sh*t up!
That is nuts right enough... make a good Scór or St Mungos sketch!   :D  :D  :D

It says a girl who is a member of the GAA club. I can't imagine she was sent by the club and if was official representative would surely be the Chairman or other senior member. I don't rem any word at the time about that... would have been very controversial.

Gough once again making game-changing "mistakes" in favour of Galway, who are beginning to reach Tyrone-esque levels of unlikeability.
That's good coming from Derry lol!

A neighbourly dislike I was born with.

Some achievement from the Tribesmen tbf.
I like Galway, especially their hurlers. As for Kerry most horrible begrudging outfit you could beat in All Ireland finals or semi-finals.. some day you'll know what I mean 😉

Quote from: HalfBack7 on February 05, 2025, 11:14:33 AMAll not well in Gortin. Full Committee stepped away! :o
They terminated the link with Glenelly against previous agreements between the two clubs. Didn't sit well with a lot within Gortin.

From what I hear it's the opposite. A group of parents totally against the link with glenelly and have forced the committee out because of it

they want their children to play for gortin only
Where they playing for Glenelly sides at underage level?

Gortin & Glenelly combined are Both Domhnaigh
none of those teams are in the latest minor gradings but the gradings appear strange - a lot of teams in Grade 2 and only 3 teams in Grade 4.

Mondays crisis meeting was a low point for our club. Some low blow comments made on the night. In the end up Thatcher Keenan and the rest of the committee walked. I hope more KC / Omagh lads join us to allow us to field on our own going forward.

How could a club ever survive after inviting prince charles to their pitch and making him tea and all. Disgraceful club.
I don't think that is actually true. Wasn't it a men shed or community group? Scurrilous bullsh*t to say that

They visited Owenkillew Community Centre and there may have been some kids there who happened to be wearing GAA tops like most kids do these days.
That's my understanding. Certainly not an invite or official reception from Gortin GAA club

Quote from: Brendan on February 15, 2025, 09:24:33 PMThe game was dying but the attendances still look pretty pathetic despite the lure of the new rules, a really competitive league where anyone could beat anyone and there was no Pre season competitions. This is the 2nd most important competition nationally
Seemed to good crowds... its February night!
