Can I change my prediction to Kerry?

When was the last time a Div 3 team didn't field?

I suppose Antrim won't field in Ulster championship game in Newry either.

Quote from: twohands!!! on March 14, 2025, 11:25:40 AMThe default GAA rule is that if 2 teams are level on points it's head-to-head, but if it's 3 teams or more then score difference. Counties are allowed amend this rule if they wish.

I think alphabetical order would be appropriate.

Quote from: gallsman on March 13, 2025, 07:01:57 AMWhy should he be allowed retake it? "It was an accident" doesn't really cut the mustard.

Why do you definitively say there was nothing wrong with it? He's not allowed touch it twice. If he did, then it's a foul.

The same way a goalkeeper is not allowed off his line, and deliberately does so, that infraction results in a retake.

That only applies if the penalty is missed. If it goes in, the attacker isn't asked to take it again.

An exact analogy of that is that a two touch kick could be retaken if it went in, but not if the goalkeeper saved it or it missed. In both cases there is no benefit from the foul.

Quote from: Deerstalker on March 12, 2025, 10:54:04 PMWould a retake not be a better rule ?

it would, since it was accidental.

Real Madrid squeeze through. Why did RTÉ not show the score on screen in the penalties?

On what basis?

Quote from: David McKeown on March 11, 2025, 08:15:23 AMEven beating Derry may not be enough depending on other results. Albeit Tyrone would need to pick up 4 points and other results would need to go against Armagh. It's still extremely tight.

If Armagh beat Derry and Tyrone get 4 points then we would be equal and we stay up on the head to head.
Unless someone else like Mayo ended up on the same points, but we have a better score difference than Mayo now.

Mind boggles. He was shocking in their game v Galway.

Was going to say I think the loser of Armagh v Kerry may be in serious danger of relegation given the other fixtures but that appointment can change that to Armagh I fear may be in serious bother after this match.

We may be in bother. However, Armagh have played rightly at home and it is up to us to beat Derry in the last game. If Armagh did manage an unlikely victory in Tralee, then Kerry would have a hard away assignment against Galway.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on March 10, 2025, 10:59:55 AMAnd I'm not disputing previous chairmen involved in handing Casement over, but when doing that the least the Ulster council could have done when in control was not make a pigs ear out of it and creating the debacle we have now.

Casement is now closed for 12 years, why the idea of a neutral venue for Antrim games not introduced then, whoever came out of the draw first? The present issue was very predictable and should have been anticipated then.

Quote from: johnnycool on March 10, 2025, 05:07:56 PMAntrim are now in a position not of their making (which I've also said) and Frankie Quinn will be under huge pressure (which I've also said) and have much sympathy for the man, but the Ulster council aren't going to take that £200k hit without a fight.

The GAA generally is not going to allow counties suit themselves in relation to the location of games, The Antrim County Board would not allow clubs have absolute discretion on where club games were played.

Quote from: Sportacus on March 09, 2025, 08:20:29 PMMakes you wonder why Armagh bothered redeveloping the Athletic Grounds at all.

How on earth do you come to that conclusion?

Quote from: pbat on March 09, 2025, 10:20:10 AMThe attitude of some Armagh supporters on this issue is appalling, as Armagh fan of 40+ years I would love to see the match but somethings are bigger than attending a game. Antrim grassroots GAA and players have been screwed over by the Ulster council and Croke Park for over 10 years on Casement. Nationalists have been screwed over by various British Governments and Stormont on this, so Casement been built is more than somewhere to play matches. It is a principled point that the countries second city with a majority nationalist population must have a stadium of Stature, and every Gael regardless of where you call home should be on board with this.

If you have been following Armagh for 40+ years then you will recall that Armagh played games in Clones for years. Armagh GAA benefitted more from allowing their supporters see the game than from shoehorning the game into some smaller place in pursuit of some abstract concept of home advantage in a championship where all the other games are played at neutral venues.

Of course Casement must be built, but that has little to do with the present issue, When Casement is built are teams going to refuse to play semi-finals against Antrim there because it is Antrim's home ground? Will Antrim refuse to play Monaghan in Clones?

Quote from: tonto1888 on March 09, 2025, 05:15:42 PMNobody from Armagh, apart from the guy saying fine Antrim, wants to crush them.

Nobody wants to "crush Antrim"; some of us want the game to be played where people, including Antrim people, can readily get in to see it as the ability to attend games is an important advantage for the GAA.
