A few things about Colm O'Rourkes tenure.

Even after winning the TC his coaching team walked away. Apparently because they weren't being listened to. A handful of good young players walked away too.

Colm by some accounts I've heard didn't believe in modern coaching or "systems". His approach was to let the players figure it out themselves. Dublin league match comes to mind where this approach was badly found out and Colm denied that he was even taking that approach to the game no matter how obvious it was.

At the end of his 2 years the players were asked if they would support extending his contract and the answer was a resounding'No'.

Yeah. Shouldn't have been allowed near the GAA ticket sales. GAA have their own broadcasting platform in GAAplus. Time they got their own ticket sales system and cut the Ticketbastards out.

Quote from: thejuice on June 30, 2025, 05:47:38 PMHard to argue this is another step up from what we've faced before. When Galway brought a bit of intensity and ran at us they got plenty of rewards in the second half. This is what I expect from Donegal sustained for a much longer period.

No question we are miles ahead of where we were last year. We've improved from the Leinster final even. But to be honest it's not like we beat peak Dublin, peak Kerry or peak Galway.

A more clinical team would have got at least one more goal against us. Of course we have capacity to improve on our own performance in terms of shooting and Hogans 45s and free kicks will hopefully sharpen up. That gives me some reassurance.

Donegal don't have the same list of flaws that Dublin, Kerry and Galway were laboured with. It's a big step up. That said we'll do our own homework. Robbie is a very good coach and no doubt we'll have a plan for Donegal.
Really you can only beat what's in front of you.
Thought Davey rispin put it best when he said that people saying Galway Kerry Dublin were below their best against us, maybe it was cause we didn't allow them to be at their best. ?

Could be but Kerry vs Armagh was a different animal to the one we played in Tullamore.

Dublin improved a bit from the team that we beat especially against Galway.

Galway compared to last years finalists.

Not sure Rafferty is going to pick up Murphy, really depends on where Murphy is playing. We'll keep Rafferty closer to goal and if Murphy comes out to midfield someone else will track him.

We might go with Menton, O'Neill and Gray (if he has the fitness) all starting similar to having Jones as a 3rd midfielder/ball winner in the league.

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on June 29, 2025, 03:32:49 PMGalway will probably never win an all ireland now will they?

Which is sad to see

Fair play to Meath despite not playing their best....there's an all Ireland in that team maybe not this year but in the coming years.
been saying this all year. Youngest team in quarterfinals. This will all add to them going forward next year and the year after. Best all round players since 96/04. Future looks very bright. I believe will dominate Leinster over next 5 years with our main opposition been Offaly. Louth I think will slip back , dubs are in rebuild mode. And Kildare are a basket case. We are the coming team with minor all ire winners and Leinster u20s yet to feature.
The future is bright the future is green and gold.
Hon the royal

Great to win but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Be careful what you wish for! Galway got theirs.

No easy games from here on in.

We were the easy draw weren't we?

I know that was as ropey a win as you'll ever see , loads of mistakes but we worked for every inch of it.

Thought after conceding that 2 goals they was it. Fair play to them. Conor Gray did fantastic coming on given how much he missed over the last few years.

Scrappiest goal ever but I don't care

Rain earlier in the morning. Lots of slipping

Very cagey. Left a lot of scores behind. Feel like Galway have another gear in them.

Pretty much full strength bar Comer. At least Brennan knows Walsh very well from Crokes

I can make arguments for every game going one way or the other.

Don't see Kerry beating Armagh. They need to be at 100% and haven't done that yet and haven't really needed to be either.

Donegal might just survive a tough battle with Monaghan but them losing wouldn't be a shock either. Donegal won't get through this unscathed any way but they'll get a break after this.

Which version of Dublin or Tyrone will we get. Both on form you'd say Tyrone slightly but you just don't know. Dublin have home advantage though.

It could be my optimism but Meath might be about to make a statement this weekend. We'll be rested, there's a hunger and an ambition in this team. It won't be easy by any means but I feel like the Kerry game has us nicely positioned to put together a complete performance. Of course that could be all b0ll0x come Sunday evening.
