QuotePeter Donnelly too big to add to ticket?

Is Porter not an S&C guy?

Would him and PD not be doing essentially the same job or has PD a wider remit these days ?

Great stuff, hopefully he is able to put together his first choice backroom team and away we go for 2025.....

QuoteI'm not sure the 'born' in Tyrone bit

My point was maybe they only want someone born in Tyrone or maybe they are  happy with getting the best person for the job, no matter where they are born or live......

To me MoR seems to be one of the best managers available AND has sufficient Tyrone credentials, given his time lving in the County and the Errigal connections

I would find it absolutely astounding if MoR allowed his name to go forward without knowing exactly what the Tyrone Co Board were going to offer (or not) in terms of support.

I would equally find it astouding if the TCB did not know what and who MoR wanted in place as part of his coaching set up, including any expenses (or not).

Maybe MoR doesn't want any payment. Maybe he does.

Maybe the TCB don't want to pay anyone. Maybe they do.

Maybe the TCB only wnat a manager born and reared in Tyrone, maybe they just want best person for the job.

Whatever the situation I'd be really surprised if both parties didn't know the other's position before now and, while I've certainly been wrong before,  for a job like this I don't think there would be much left to chance by the time nominations come round.

While it was a poor enough game in terms of skill, the tension (and relief at the final whistle) during and after the 2005 semi final v Armagh was hard to beat

Quote from: Jerome on August 27, 2024, 10:08:45 AMI would be very surprised if Tyrone would go outside the county, there are enough talented managers and coaches amongst our own without going outside of it.

Who would you see as the top #5 from inside the county?

Sevco made the Europa final recently with an inferior team.

Not unreasonable an expectation for Celtic to be competitive in it also (assuming they can land there after CL)

Just curious - why is 1990 considered the starting point of 'modern era' football?

Quote from: NotedObserver on July 28, 2024, 09:14:52 PMI hope so and the fact Tyrone have beaten them in recent history should also provide the drive to improve. Tho they have raised it a level this year with all their squad available. The conditioning, tactics and the belief they have is vastly ahead of Tyrone at the moment

Hats off to Armagh fully deserving of their All Ireland win. No one can convince me that Armagh man for man have significantly better players than us but the 3 things you mention above are true. I guess with no news about management moving on at this stage they are staying on for at least another year. Here's hoping Armaghs win will give everyone a kick up the backside. . .

Hopefully...but unfortunately a change in S&C and tactics (and the associated increase in belief that would hopefully bring)  take time to embed and get to the point where you are challenging for AIs.

Tyrone seem to have been be folloing the law of diminishing returns by keeping L&D in the job, culminating in that embarrasing first half against Roscommon.

The current players are every bit as good as what Armagh, Galway etc have and there is a a conveyor of talent waiting to be brought through.

General discussion / Re: America - Tipping

Main issue with tipping nowdays in the US is the increasing lack of good service, while still in full expectance of a 20% tip.

Efficiency, helpfulness and courtesy, the x3 essentials should determine the tip level, not just being alive.

Quote from: manwithnoplan on July 23, 2024, 08:27:18 AMInteresting to see Armagh fans giving eachother abuse due to some folks being members of smaller clubs and therefore finding it easier to get tickets. Hard to beat some old fashioned big club arrogance.

More a gripe with proprtionality, no?

Should a club with 50 members recieve the same allocation as a club with 500 members?

Well done Armagh. McCambridge goal changed the game for then and only 1 winner thereafter.

All thise annointing Clifford best of all time were a little premature

Clones, while great for nostalgia, is objectively an awful venue. Facilities are dreadful, stuck somewhere in the 70s/80s.

Would need serious, serious money to get it even close to being what a modern stadium should be.

Add in the terrible travel infrastructure issues and it's clear why something else is needed to be the figurehead venue for Ulster GAA.
