Any recommendations on any good/funny/thought provoking columnists that you like to read? It can be about any topic under the sun (just not those in The Sun).

Just looking for new reading material, it can be as funny and lighted hearted as you want or as serious  and heavy as you please! I'm happy to read anything!

Also, have you any favourite articles - would appreciate it if you shared the link here :)

I read mostly sports columnists

Brolly
Kimmage
Thornley
D'Arcy
Barnes
Jones
Shannon
Early

Used to read Frankie Boyle and Charlie Brookers columns when they were doing them. Not really many about like that anymore.

Also Paddy Heaney in the Irish News was exceptional!

Patrick Murphy, The Irish News. Always find his columns really good.

Gene Kerrigan is outstanding.
Charlie Brooker was imo the greatest and it's still worth readong books of his old articles.
Eamon Sweeney can be good when he's not being pious. That's rare though.
Kimmage does a good interview.

Vincent Hogan's interview with JC that was published on the weekend of the AI semi v Tipp was superb. A throwback to a time when players spoke to the media and it didn't do him any harm on the pitch.

I still miss Kevin Cashman.

Itchy

Miriam Lord can be very funny in the Irish Times.

Kevin Cassidy is a bit unorthodox, but an enjoyable read in Gaelic Life.

Roy Curtis
Katie Hopkins
Ruth Dudley Edwards
Kevin Myers

In all seriousness I would always try and read:

Paul Kimmage
Ken Early
Fintan O'Toole
Marina Hyde
Brolly
Neil Francis
Eamon Sweeney

The Sunday Indo is generally excellent for sport columnists but the rest of the paper I barely look at.
