Does anyone have an example of a senior hurling club who were relegated down to junior and have made their way back to senior to win the county title?
Just a discussion I was having in the pub over the weekend with a lad

in what timeframe? I'm sure Galway would have a few of these as their club hurling is so competitive. The likes of Killimor Daly, Clarinbridge, Gort, Loughrea etc probably have been up and down.

Maybe Abbeyknockmoy who won the county title in 1988. They were not considered a proper hurling club at the time.
4 Roads beat them then.

Hold up, hold up. Abbey lost 6-7 successive county Intermediate semi-finals before finally crossing the line in '85. Three years later, Mike Coleman-powered, they were county champions. Minus Coleman, harshly sent off v KK in a league game in Pearse stadium - sin sceal eile - plus a few injuries, they went down to Four Roads, probably deservedly. They made the semi's and quarters a few times since, before dropping down to Intermediate again, where they've more than held their own. Unfashionable and unheralded, (due to their northern location sure), champions but they paid their dues and came up the hard way.
