Said it before. Rory is a one trick pony, very classless and it showed today. Same system as Donegal when he managed them, they have a few years left at this system but ultimately they will fail as its too difficult to maintain. Also the system relies on direction from Rory, not trusting the players to change it up as required.

Tell me how the Derry setup differs from pretty much every other county in the country...? Start with Tyrone sure

Easy. You don't see any other manger in the country roaring instructions at every second at their players. Shows he doesn't trust his players and also shows he wants it all about him. Also not every team rely solely on their starting 15, you seen what happened when glass went off against Dublin, Derry fell apart.

Tyrone can vary their attack by drifting in Con or Brian into the full forward for a long ball attack or via McCurry or canavan. Derrys attack relies on a pre set game plan.

Derry same as Donegal under Rory and Jim rely on their team getting ahead and keeping the lead. Derry can't claw back from behind as other top teams can.

Derry attack relys on a pre set game plan?  11 different scorers,  that's impressive.
They didn't go 6 points down to Dublin in celtic park either.
I don't think Derry will win Sam this year but they are a young team , I can live in hope.

And let's see Gallagher is not a good manager because he spits on his hands , directs his players vocally, I'd imagine they can't hear him most of the time any way, and he wears his heart on his sleeve in the celebrations when they score.

Having brought 3 different counties to an Ulster final and winning one of them,  taking a totally  demoralised county from div 4 to div 1 and picking up a provincial and AI semi on the way doesn't count.

Yep I can see the logic in all that.

He didn't manage Derry from div 4 to 1.

FS it is unbelievable the calibre of people who class themselves as big Derry fans.

On a public forum asking why McGoldrick hasn't rejoined the panel....tell me you know f**k all about Derry GAA without telling me you know f**k all about Derry GAA.

Harsh.
Just out of interest, were you a bully at school?

Are the Wattys going to throw him a big party, walk him down the steps of the courthouse in Maghera?

Insightful.

Chris Donnelly is a tool too......why is he on so much

Very harsh. I think He's articulate, intelligent and well able to handle himself whether in radio, tv or writing in the papers. Unashamedly a Republican and there's nothing wrong with that either.

Sorry, my bad.
It was the Louth game. Squad named on 1st Feb, game was on the 5th, Tohill left the panel on the 8th.
He was fit and available but Gallagher chose to leave him at home.
Roughly translated, surplus to requirements but I'm not going to tell you directly.
Left with no choice.

He hasn't really impressed for club but that's not my point.
Gallagher has had him on the panel for 2 seasons. Why then, when you can have a panel of 26 and only name 25....why would you do that when Tohill was fit and available?
It's just messing with a young lads head and very poor man management.
Hats off to Gallagher with the job he has done so far in changing the culture and getting players to buy in, but that doesn't mean that every single thing he does is perfect and beyond scrutiny.

Some of the messages on here this week are hard to believe. Why aren't players calling Gallagher out? Why was Tohill not given a chance? Jesus wept, if you don't know the answers to them then maybe Gaelic Football isn't the sport for you.

And who anointed you the Guru?
Why keep Tohill on the panel for a year to then decide you'd rather bring no one than bring him?? If you're not raising an eyebrow at that one then maybe you could ask the same question of yourself?
It's not North Korea...opinions are allowed.

Anton Tohill was treated very poorly by Gallagher. Against Meath he chose to name a panel of 25 instead of the normal 26 even though Tohil was fully fit and available. I think that's a disgrace and no wonder he walked.
He's 6.5, superbly conditioned and athletic. Still very raw but never really got a proper chance at midfield instead, got a few cameos at full forward at the latter end of a few games.

Fair point.
Tyrone and Armagh moved straight ti u18 this year, what have they done to overcome that same issue?

Guys anyone know the status of McKinless and Mcevoy? Odds of them being involved this weekend?

I'm a fan of Gareth and his explosive style of play, however, watched him in club championship v Lavey  at latter end of last year and a few games for Derry this year and he's a shadow of the player he was. Must be carrying an injury? Is he waiting on an op?

If u18 was introduced this year instead of u17s, would one not just replace the other in the calendar or am I missing something here?

An absolute disgrace. Hang your heads Scotstown and Mccarroll for instigating it. The absolute sacrosanct core of the GAA is that you play for the place you are from. If that disintegrates., it's a slippery slope.

Wise up

Come on ....surely you have a more detailed opinion than that, let's hear it?

Very impressed with Kildare. Thought the ref was very sore on them on a number of occasions with clear, scorable frees not being given. Agree that Derry might struggle to make that top two position.

Poorly executed kick out then the mistake was further compounded by the horlicks he made of the subsequent shot. Agree, in that league, it could prove very costly
