https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/1013/1171375-mother-baby-homes/

I searched and couldn't find a thread on this but forgive me if it is discussed elsewhere.

Can anyone explain the logic behind sealing the Mother and Baby Homes Commission report? if have no dog in this fight but seemed an astonishing step to take and thought there was relatively little coverage of same?

GAA Discussion / The GAA is inherently Sexist
March 28, 2017, 10:59:25 AM

A couple of threads - most recently Dinny's - have refreshed my mind with something that really bothers me about the Association.
The fact that the GAA does not entirely support and administrate all versions of our games is a layover from a bygone age but that the approach remains and we tolerate our daughters, sisters, etc being treated as second class citizens is a scandal and an indictment on all of us who continue to accept the status quo and the neglect of potentially 50% of our membership.

QuoteMission

"The GAA is a community based volunteer organisation promoting Gaelic Games, culture and lifelong participation."

The GAA is a volunteer organisation. We develop and promote Gaelic Games at the core of Irish identity and culture. We are dedicated to ensuring that our family of games, and the values we live, enrich the lives of our members, families and the communities we serve. We are committed to active lifelong participation for all and to providing the best facilities. We reach out to and include all members of our society. We promote individual development and well-being and strive to enable all of our members to achieve their full potential in their chosen roles.

Vision

Our vision is that everybody has the opportunity to be welcomed to take part in our games and culture, to participate fully, to grow and develop and to be inspired to keep a lifelong engagement with our Association.

GAA Discussion / Would you stay on?
July 22, 2015, 11:50:11 AM

Jim McCorry was not recommended for a second year by the Down executive on Monday night. He went to the clubs for endorsement anyway and got over the line by two votes.

Would you carry on in that scenario? The key workers around facilitating his work are against him remaining?  Tough station

GAA Discussion / Pre Championship challenges
May 13, 2011, 09:31:50 AM

In previous years we've had a very useful thread covering updates on championship preparations through challenge games. Often difficult to get updates on these games so gaaboard's insiders usually come into their own!

QuoteLouth manager Peter Fitzpatrick will allow his name to go forward for the forthcoming General Election campaign, according to local media reports.

While no firm decision has yet been announced, it now appears likely that Fitzpatrick's name will be on the ballot paper as a Fine Gael candidate.

Local radio station LMFM tweeted on Sunday that Fitzpatrick had decided to accept Fine Gael's invitation to contest the election, which is due to take place on Friday 11 March next.

The Clan na Gael clubman, who was a reliable servant of the county during a lengthy playing career, replaced Eamonn McEneaney as Wee County manager ahead of the 2010 campaign.

He steered the county to the final of both the O'Byrne Cup and the Leinster SFC, and emerged with reputation enhanced following his considered response to the hugely controversial nature of his side's defeat to Meath in the provincial championship.

The Louth constituency will see plenty of change from this year, with long-serving Fianna Fáil Minister Dermot Ahern having announced that he will be stepping down and Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams fancied to take a seat in the first election he has contested in the Republic of Ireland, where he replaces departing Sinn Féin TD Arthur Morgan.

Should he confirm his candidature, Fitzpatrick will stand alongside Fine Gael's education spokesman Fergus O'Dowd, who was first elected to Dáil Eireann in 2002.

Anyone any experience of using these guys (or similar) to sell a yoke?

Obviously it seems they are on the low side in valuing the car but if they're guaranteeing the sale i could live with that.
