The Madrid game is obviously the big one, but if you have the chance to see Basel, don't hesitate. Of all the visitors I've seen at Anfield, their fans were by far the best. Headaballs the lot of them.

Yeah, they've a right track record. Got a game stopped by throwing tennis balls on the field to protest against the scheduling of a match to suit TV broadcasting a tennis match.

And that's tame for what they can get up to.

the rascals. you want to see what the Sunderland supporters do. Apparently they even throw them beach ball fings onto the field. Bold boys. But that is nothing compared to supporters of them London teams do. Somebody told me that they put special banana skins on the pitch that make really world class players with no medals slip.

GAA Discussion / Re: Mickey Harte joins the Irish News

Like most here I find Mickey's column tedious in the extreme but for me today's was as bad as it gets. A week after the Railway Cup semis Mickey spends a whole page giving us a blow by blow account of the ulster Leinster match. Surely we had that all on Monday. What's happening to the Irish News. Last week we had a full page on Kenny Archer's run in with a steward at Pairc Esler .

Hard to believe there was 31,500 odd at tonights match. The Stadium looked nearly empty!
Would have been a bigger crowd if they had been playing one of the Big 6.....
Yeah but Sunderland have  never really been in the big six

Watch Jinky destroying all and sundry in Celtic's run to Lisbon and particularly against Leeds in the 1970 semi final. Also watch Eusebio against Man Ure,1968, against a United defence of Dunne,Foulkes and Brennan.Nobby Stiles effectively marked Eusebio out of the 1966 WC semi final, and 1968 European Cup Final, neither he nor any other player in the World could have stopped Jinky.Deserves comparison with Eusebio
In all honesty, Tony, what age were you when Celtic got to Lisbon final to be coming out with  a statement like that?

I see junior replay is on Down website for wed 7.30 in Downpatrick. What are CB at, surely their supporters deserve better than being asked to stand at Downpatrick. would Newcastle not be a more suitable venue. It was ok for Loughinisland v Downpatrick 6 weeks ago
They were hardly going to play that game in Downpatrick. Anyway pitch and lights in Downpatrick would be vastly superior.

This waiting is killing me.

Nothing to see here, back to the Mayo v Galway thread with you laddy.

If you think that is long, just see how your patience is tested in waiting for another championship! ;P
Imagine if you were a Liverpool supporter waiting on 1st premiership and with no prospect of it happening.

But they are stopping certain operations in Provincial Belfast and sending children to the All Ireland centre in Dublin. ;)
And all overseen by a DUP Health Minister.

Do you not remember the Bayern match - outplayed for 89.5 minutes???

United were the best team in Europe that year though, unfortunate that they lost 2 key players for the final.  Anyway, 20 league titles is some achievement, puts a bit of daylight between our nearest rivals.
The same nearest rivals who wont be long passing Uniteds wait of 26 years for a title. The bitters can try and 'bite' all they want fact is we are Champions. Giggs 13 Gerard 0  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Spoken like a true Partitionist Unionist.
Peter, Gregory,Nigel etc will be proud of you.
Your ancestors were more than likely Soupers  >:(
'ye lot' do realise that the dole in norn iron is £53 a week.. the streets are not paved with gold and you cant live on cheap soft drinks and jumbo packs of washing powder. luckily we do drive on the same side of the road- mostly, but not the hard shoulder. why don't ye lot just give us back our 26 counties

tell ya what we'll buy the place off you. come on hold out your hand! how much?! how much for ye lot just to feck off to somewhere and we'll take over

They are not your 26 counties, each county is the home of the people actually from them.
a haulage company not from me has recently been sold for a pound. another company took over their debts and now they own it.    ye lot have a country we'll give you a pound and take over your debts but ye have to feck off. we might as well own the place if we are going to be absorbing your debts while your on holidays in newry. its a good deal just give us the keys and walk away

Lawnseed, Ireland is in a far better economical situation than the parasite Northern Ireland.
yep! 80years to clear your debts. only a handful of the people alive now who are kids will be around when the debt is cleared. this is a great chance, just walk away and we'll take over. you'll be free of all the worry and stress, the pressure of wondering when the germans could pull the plug. you can join the thousands of paddy pissheads lying round the slums suckling on the benefits tit of mother britain, spend the rest of your life in kilburn singing "i was 18 years when i went down to dublin" or hitting some unsuspecting english man and shout "800 years"

But at least we ain't British...
you just dont get it do you? have you no fukn pride left at all? irish people fuk up their own place and the answer is sign on and sponge of the 'british' taxpayer. is that where its at? because if it is.. you'd be better digging a hole and covering youself up. i suggest you listen to the jf kennedy ireland speech and get a back bone

But at least we ain't British...
mmm! That's debatable ;)

There isnt really anything wrong with old trafford atmosphere. It is raised for the big games like tonight or Madrid. United fans almost expect to win against the smaller tripe like west ham southampton liverpool etc so they sit and wait in expectation like any big club. I have been to many a big game at old trafford and never experienced anything like it.
+1 Snoopdog. But to say you have never experienced anything like it come on. You never been to To Anfield for one of those Tommy Murphy / Europa league thingamy they aspire to every year

Was amazed O'Neill took this job in the first place. It could only have been out of a desperation to return to work as he'd been out of the game for nearly a year and a half.

Was he not a Sunderland fan as a youngster?

I think Rooney would bloom the further from Blighty he managed to find himself - his career to-date has been a catalogue of unfulfilled promise.

Yep, just umpteen medals and a goal every other game. Some unfulfilment right there.

Some people have amazingly high standards/expectations. I'm not saying Rooney has achieved everything he can in the game, but you'd have to go a long way back in time to find an English centre forward who has achieved as much in the game as he has.
Spot on Wobbler but looking forward there is always John Jo Shelvey!
