Gavin out!

Can't believe the back to back clean sweep for 2016 is no more.

Longford should be split in two.

Longford should be split in two.

Divide it along the N4 and we could go with that.
Leader Cup winners: 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023.

The Insider

Longford is nearly divided by the N4 . Only 3 of the 13 clubs who will play Senior championship in 2016 are in the South of the county and they provided the grand total of 3 to todays match day squad with 2 more to come back.  .This trend is better at minor this year where about 12 will be from the southern clubs .

Shamrock Shore

I agree with the other sentiments there. Longford is effectively already split in two with 'North Longford' and the 'Rest'.

Now the solution for Central Council is there for all to see.

Simply replace the Champioship with the O'Byrne Cup.

Billys Boots

The Longford GAA calendar should run from Jan 6th to Feb 1st every year.

The Dubs don't like getting their socks dirty, it would seem.

Dubs don't like it up em.

Best of luck to Longford Sunday v Meath

Thanks Declan

Shame that the covered stand the far side is closed off for safety reasons. Would have made viewing a bit more comfortable for the 2.5k there.

Meath beat Longford in the O'Byrne Cup final in 1983. Back then, of course, it was only a Micky Mouse competition.

That may have been Sean Boylan's first silverware.

We won the O'Byrne Cup one year when Finbarr Cullen was captain. Or maybe it was Tom Coffey. Anyway, we sneered at it. SNEERED!!!! Jaysus we'd kill for one now! Mind you , we won the Leinster Championship that year. Just sayin' Larries.

Best of luck to the poor little Marries as they enter the hone of the Meath ogres.
I hope there will be a strong ref appointed to protect the poor gasĂșnĂns..... :D
