Oisin McConville states this might be his last year according to BBC Northern Ireland.
Is it good for Armagh?
Is it good for the GAA?
fast fading armagh player may possibly quit somtime in the future
forget the garrison game in croker this truly is the end of the GAA
A great advert for the GAA, he gave all for club and county. Who will ever forget his goal in 2002 AIF :) a class act.
Good luck Oisin and all the best in the future. A true Gael..
Not too many men bounce back from:
- not scoring in 1999 AISF (largely because his father was in ill-health)
- Scoring 1-9 against Kerry in 2000 AISF and still ending up on the losing side
- missing the first half penalty in AIF 2002
to score the all-important goal and walk away with the man of the match award in AIF 2002.
Many got the plaudits, but Óisín got the scores.
No matter what people were saying about him, he always produced. He has a brutal back problem that would have finished many's a footballer.
Is he even 30 yet?? :o
With him retired and Clarke out, Armaghs odds to retain their Ulster cahmpaionship will surely lengthen, dramatically.
ffs catch a grip o yerselves... he may think about retiring after this year.
tis a slow day on the board
he's still playing this year..
thought last season he had his best year in the past few..
not finished by a long way imo
FFS whats this thread about then... wtf am I paying tribute to Oisin mc conville and the man still an imminent threat to Tyrones 3 outta 6.
Is this gentleman really worth the praise you are heaping on him here?
Yes, why?
Have you something you'd like to get off your chest?
if Nif anatic knew a wee bit about football he(?) wouldnt be asking the question !
If he's not referring to football he should post on the non-GAA section
I hope he stays as long as he is healthy enough to contribute to the cause but given his chronic back problems over the years I think this might be it for him at the Inter county level. Oisin has been one of the most important players in our history and if he decided to quit and concentrate on putting in a few years with cross I would say fair play to him, he owes us nothing and we owe him a great deal.
QuoteIts not too often I would praise anyone from the Orange County, but McConville was a class act.
Having become more of a lurker on the board lately some comments deserve seconding. There's one above - from 5times of all people! :)
Gate player for club and county. I hope he goes on for as long as hes fit to. Theres an old saying - your a long time retired.
