Go away outta that, this world is called Liverpool. Torres, Suarez and now maybe Coutinho.

You forgot sterling. Or maybe you didnt  :D
Great business, buy for 8 and sell for 100 or whatever but until its reinvested means fcuk all

And no Andy Carroll type available this time given Jose has snapped up Lukaku  ;) ;)

Im sure we could spend 90 mill on Siggurdson or someone like that.

It was always going to take a transfer request to persuade Liverpool to sell. Coutinho is too important and as AZ says it is very late in the day to be looking for replacements.

I am not even sure what kind of player Keita is but maybe Liverpool need to ask Leipzig to name a price and go back to Barca and tell them to add on the extra if they want Phil.

Liverpool have been here with Suarez and the Arsenal bid. Despite Coutinho having submitted a request, Liverpool may stand firm and risk upsetting the player in the short term but give him assurances that he can go next summer on the club's terms.

That would be the best case scenario right now because with a sale, Liverpool are very unlikely to be able to find quality available players right now.

Either way, a bad situation on the eve of the season.

Liverpool couldn't have done anything differently to be fair. They have been trying to sign players and have been willing to stump up huge fees but have seen their efforts rebuffed by clubs thus for.

I'd still reckon that's the most likely option. Good job by them locking him into a 5 year deal though, if he was a short termer, you'd be in big trouble.

Thing is - RBL aren't short of money and they've said Keita isn't for sale.

There's a release clause in his contract that kicks in next summer at 48million - so it's a better bet for then.

QuoteRalf Rangnick, RB Leipzig's sporting director, has made his strongest suggestion yet that the club is prepared to sell Naby Keita next summer.

Keita, who was the subject of a protracted and ultimately unsuccessful pursuit by Liverpool this summer, is understood to have a £48m release clause in his contract which will be activated in 2018.

Leipzig refused to listen to offers for Keita this year, rejecting bids of £57m and £66m from Liverpool, but Rangnick accepts that it will be 'tough' to keep the 22-year-old at the club in the long-term.

"Next season, Keita theoretically has the option to leave," he told Bild.

Over the Bar

Liverpool and Arsenal are simply selling clubs.  Neither could hold into a handrail if a big club came looking for one!

Unless you are winning Premier Leagues and regularly in champions league and competing to win it, it is difficult for any Premier League club to keep players from the clutches of the big two in Spain.

Over the Bar

I'd expect Klopp probably has the kahunas to tell him he'll rot in the reserves but the owners will remind him he's only an employee too so not his decision.
