Puckoon

Thats a poor attempt tony - you didnt even use the same words.

downgirl

What do we do to the sentence...just add punctuation and the like or do we add words too??

Sideshow Bob

You might want to edit the title. Grammer? Don't you mean grammar.  ;)

Arthur

He'll probably argue it was satire!

Direct speech, so presumably inverted commas and a comma to seperate "tools" and "wood"? Dad referring to a specific person so should be capitalised? Regardless, it;s the start of the sentence.

"Dad will leave you the tools, wood and nails."???

ziggysego

Dad you tool, leave the woods and nails?

Well Im glad you think so, some clown is insisting that there is also a comma after wood.

Alas sideshowbob, Arthur has stolen my thunder.

Ziggy -I like your reply best.

Almost 100% sure that when listing, commas are used to seperate everything but the final item, which is seperated by that wonderful conjunction "and".

Who? gnevin?

Which one of you bitches wants to dance?

heganboy

don't forget you could use a semi colon...
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Puckoon

Ok, maybe (and Im not saying I know for definite) you could use a semi colon. In the context, what is correct? Surely there cannot be two right answers?

I'd be almost certain that the use of a comma before the 'and' is allowed in some circumstances (it's called an Oxford Comma - and yes, I was sad enough to look it up after hearing the Vampire Weekend song of the same name...) There is an entry on wikipedia about it...
