GAA Discussion / GAA Injury Fund (Not Insurance)
January 13, 2017, 11:04:24 AM
I was told last night that Croke Park have imposed a new system on the clubs for their annual injury fund. Apparently there are 3 bands now based on your last years claims. (Hope i've got the following figures correct here but correct me if i'm wrong)

If you've no claims to the injury fund there will be a 10% increase on top of what you paid last year(Band 1)
If you've claimed up to £5000 (can someone confirm this figure) there will be a 50% increase on top of what you paid last year (Band 2)
If You've claimed more than the figure above your increase is 100%...WTF. Which will be most clubs in the Country.

I suppose anything over 2 operations and you're screwed...Croke Park haven't even brought this in gradually but with a bang surely this should have been imposed gradually or clubs told this will happen next year etc.
Many clubs are on their knees with County Board fee's and stupid tickets imposed by County Boards that the clubs must sell and now Croke Park are turning the screw...How some of the small Junior and Intermediate clubs survive i do not know.

GAA Discussion / Laois v Armagh
June 07, 2016, 02:54:02 PM
Good game for both Counties tbh. None of the two teams will break much delph this year but a run in the qualifiers will keep some happy, should be a few tasty hits in it...

General discussion / Fairness & Fear
March 23, 2016, 09:28:50 AM
The most senior member of the Orange Order (Drew Nelson) was just on the Radio live stating they want an investigation of the treatment of Protestant people in their work place...WTF. they claim Protestant people are in fear and are intimidated by Catholic workers talking about GAA matters and also seeing people with a Mass card on their desk...WTF. A guy came on the radio to say was this an April fool joke.

Radio Ulster is going nutts here about this now...Only up here would you get this.

GAA Discussion / Tyrone v Armagh
March 14, 2016, 10:49:23 AM
Will the Red Hands take it easy on us? Or will Micky send them out to kick us while we're down...lol. Micky Harte would try his best to win any game and rightly so too. Armagh's performance yesterday was much better and the 2 week break will do Armagh no harm, Tyrone are of course motoring rightly...Anything from this game is a bonus for Armagh as nothing is expected my most supporters.

GAA Discussion / Armagh v Fermanagh
February 19, 2016, 09:30:39 AM
Okay...this should be interesting, Armagh have a few players back from injury which will obviously strengthen them but Fermanagh have a bit of momentum going into the game plus Armagh's home record is abysmal. McGeeny said in Irish News today he fully expects Armagh to stay in Div 2...either he's unaware of the first two defeats or he's about to unleash the beast for the rest of the league and we've only been messing about so far...

General discussion / Local Infrastructure (or lack of it)
February 15, 2016, 11:04:18 AM
Guys i currently get the train to work (Lurgan to Belfast) every work day but it has to be one of the worst services around, if signals are not down then the trains have broken down and if that's not the case then there usually is a bomb hoax on the lines. From Christmas to now there hasn't been one week where there have been no disruptions and the monthly cost of a train ticket is £152.50, on the flip side of the coin you drive down and sit static on the M1 for ages...WTF. Are we so backward that we can't invest in better roads or transport, i know our population is small in comparison to most of Europe but what's on offer there would put us to shame.

I know our Southern Brethren probably have similar problems with Motorway and definitely the M50 but what's the Dart and bus services like? was the Luas a big help to traffic?

This is so frustrating...

General discussion / Google
January 19, 2016, 03:21:29 PM
I don't even know where to start but here goes...I have a gmail account and have had it for quite a few years now, i recently signed into Youtube for my two kids to upload videos (Private i may add) but whatever they have done i have a new name attached to my email...the address is the same but i have a funny nerdy name that now appears with my email. I had to email a councillor this morning from NI Assembly and they replied back to me..."who the hell is .... .... by the way"? talking about embarrassing. I went into my profile and there is a picture of my two kids there and that made up name but it won't let me change it as they said it was changed too recent.

How do i change this back to my own name?

This Google thing is a good job for mail and search engine but i believe they're going too far into peoples lives, they know everything about anyone who is signed up. Is deleting the account the only option?

General discussion / Best team of the 90's
October 05, 2015, 04:33:32 PM
Right lads we were doing a challenge in work here to name our best team of the 90's, the players are world wide. I went through the world cups from 1990 to 1998 for a list of players and from what teams...

1990 Germany v Argentina
1994 Brazil v Italy
1998 France v Brazil
2002 Brazil v Germany (just outside time but there may be a few there that played in 90's)

Here is a list of players who I think are world class...

Dunga, Romario, R Carlos, R Voller, L Matthaus, K H Riedle, A Moller, J Klinsmann, P Shilton, P McGrath, Koeman, Rijkaard, R Gullit, Baresi, P Maldini, R Baggio, Maradona, Hagi, Cafu, Ronaldo, Kahn, Canniga, Zola, R Keane, M Overmars, D Bergkamp, Rivaldo, P Schmichael, Eto, Del Piero, Buffon, B Laudrup, M Laudrup, Vieria, Deschamps, Desailly, Zidane, T Henry, H Stoichkov, Raul, P Kluivert, P Mihajlovic, G Bastistuta, H Crespo, J Stam & A Costscurta...

I probably missed a few here or there but i'd imagine thats the creme de le creme...Pick your best 11 obviously as a proper team...

GAA Discussion / Wide open spaces of Croke Park
December 22, 2014, 11:01:22 AM
This phrase drives me bonkers...why is this term used when 90% of the inter-county pitches are the same size?. On a thread there people are talking about Armagh getting exposed in the wide open spaces of Croke Park but they were practically invincible playing in Clones for about 7-8 years and if anything Clones is bigger than croke Park and if not there wouldn't be a meter in it...I had a list before of the dimensions of all the county grounds in Ireland and they're all within a meter or two of each other bar 2 or 3 so why has Croke Park got the wide open spaces but the rest of the pitches have not :-\

General discussion / Career v Job
September 16, 2014, 09:03:05 PM
Okay so you have a job that's close to home and it allows you to drop the kids off to school in the mornings and still be in work for 9, it pays okay but is damn hard work but I like it like that as the day flies in. The job is nothing you'd blow about to a chick if you were chatting her up at the Bar but a steady job is not easily gotten these days. Now an opportunity may have appeared for me to get back to the work I used to do (proper career) but its not much more than I'm currently getting but I will have to travel to the city for it as well as the additional cost of the travelling, I'll also be unavailable to bring my two kids to school in the mornings which my wife has not got a licence to drive.

What would you do in my situation if I was offered the new post?

GAA Discussion / Armagh v Cavan Sun 8th June
May 07, 2014, 10:45:29 AM
I think we will get a good price on Armagh for this game and we are not near as bad as our league form suggests, I think we will beat Cavan by 2-3 Pt's in this game and dish out some revenge...whats your thoughts

With a good away win last week in Navan under our belts there is great opportunity for Armagh to get another 2Pt's this Sat evening against a decent Laois team, hopefully the injury list will start to clear up and we can get another few decent results the rest of the league.

Laois are were i expect them to be (mid table Div 2 team) so it will be a tight game alright but hopefully we can get a win.

General discussion / Special Birthdays or NOT
February 07, 2014, 11:24:54 AM
My wife is 40 in 2 weeks time and i haven't a clue what to get her for her Birthday, i had thought all along that I'd get her a we holiday some where nice for 3 days and then a we gift from the kids but i found out her Passport is expired so it kinda rules that out unless it's somewhere in Ireland or the UK...any ideas?

On the flip side of all that do we go over the top for just another day and spend a pile of money on a load of crop? I was 40 last year and yes my Family over spent on me for a weekend away which was expensive and i did appreciate very much but thought it was too much for just another Birthday?

No smart arses please :)

General discussion / Galaxy/Samsung
December 26, 2013, 08:17:06 PM
I have a Galaxy S3 phone and up until last Friday it was 100% and then I was sent a software update,  ever since then it keeps freezing and re-booting itself.  I have googled the problem and people are going mad about it now their phones and pads are shite, apparently the update has now been suspended but where does that leave the people who have already done the update? My phone is 16 months old into a 24 month contract...is it still covered under warranty or can the previous software version be re-installed. do I bring it back to where I got it? and will it still be under warranty? .

Have any of you had the same problem?

General discussion / Organ Donation
November 22, 2013, 02:10:10 PM
Guys having watched our Joe on a few programmes recently what is your take on organ donations...?

I would/will give any part of me to anyone when i die as it's no use to me when I'm dead and i seriously can't see why anyone wouldn't do the same. Afterall if you or a family member needed it you'd be glad of it, so why not offer them up.

I think it's a good thing what Joe was trying on with the Irish Government about an opt out scheme rather than an opt in but for some strange reason they're having difficulty getting it passed...

BTW i do not carry an Organ Donation card but i have told my parent and wife that if anything happens me let them take what they need...

GAA Discussion / Galway v Armagh
July 15, 2013, 09:47:40 AM
Armagh can beat Galway although I'd rather have had them at home but the winner has  Cork and that's the toughest game available. ..but at least we'll know how far down the road our development is at.

GAA Discussion / Leitrim v Armagh
July 01, 2013, 09:52:45 AM
A good draw for us, i know Leitrim beat us 3 weeks ago in a friendly but I'll expect a different result this time around...

Is it safe to assume the game will be either Sat 13th or Sun 14th, does the beaten semi finalists get an extra week to prepare?

So the real championship starts next Sunday for Armagh...

Wicklow will be a tough enough nut to crack but realistically if we can't beat Wicklow at home then we're in a worse place than i thought we were in.
