On the plane as I type , looking forward to another great weekends craic! Probably not as many teams this year and the senior competition will be probably a bit watered down due to the lack of sanction players. We have 2 teams going from Setanta San Diego this year, back to defend our Intermediate and Junior C football titles ! Anyways looking forward to a great weekend!

Just back into the house ! Another finals done. Donegal Boston won senior football beating Young Irelanders in a high scoring final. Random location , but the fields were in great shape. My own club, Setanta won 2 trophies, Junior B football and intermediate football 😎 San Diego is quickly becoming a force in the North American GAA scene.
Some weeks end craic , you bump into so many people that are relatives of good friends and people you've seen in years. Great experience

GAA Discussion / Out of "town" managers.
December 12, 2013, 07:58:06 PM
Im sure there is a related thread on this somewhere. Just saw that Peter Canavan is taking over at Cavan Gaels.
Simple question I guess...how much is he getting? :o

Just finished this, and tbh , as someone who grew up in east Tyrone in 70s, 80,s and 90,s, this totally blows my mind. There was always a general "acceptance" that collusion existed in our society. But, to see this written down in a book like this really drives it home. Surely the British government has a serious case to answer in light of this book? This is as bad as it gets. The incident regarding The Rock Bar is particularly galling. Prosecutions have to come out of this .

GAA Discussion / Time for Joe to go??
August 03, 2013, 08:44:54 PM
RTE, cannot let this continue. Granted , people will watch him, just too see shite like today's rant. However , indiscriminate attacks on amateur players, who burst there asses on a nightly basis, has no place in the GAA, or on national TV. ZERO analysis of the actual game? He clearly has his own agenda, and as of today should be removed from his role as a pundit

GOALKEEPER?
I find it interesting that a lot of managers choose to rotate their goalkeepers throughout the National league. But how important is a goalkeeper actually? Is a good one the difference in winning an All Irleand and not? I think most teams goalkeepers are fairly equal, granted of course there are ones better than others, but substantially , no! Does anyone on here think that a team has won or lost an AllIreland due to their goalkeeper? I personally believe a good team will win anyways! :)

GAA Discussion / PUKE FOOTBALL
January 25, 2010, 03:47:51 AM
Tyrone have scored 6-54 in their first 3 games(24 point av P/G) , with a largely experimental lineup. Although, it is only January and the opposition wasn't the greatest, this is fair pegging ;) Where are all the puke football enthusiasts?

GAA Discussion / Just announced!!!
January 01, 2010, 07:52:28 PM
It has just been announced, Tir Eoghain are officially the team of the decade, closely followed by Crossmaglen and then there is a considerable gap to the third place finisher Kerry. The news was announced this morning on "Radio hateulster" by the one and only Weeshie Fogarty. Although this was widely regarded as a formality, the decision still doesn't sit well with some ardent Gaa followers and supporters, as they believed Crossmaglens accomplishments more deserving, sure you can't please them all!
Happy New Year

GAA Discussion / Football hall of Fame?
September 03, 2009, 06:04:10 PM
I have been living here now in the states for over a decade ( love that word ;D), and have become a big follower of most of the american sports. Each one has its own "hall of Fame ", basically an enshrinement that lauds the greats of each respective sport. Most of them has its own "unofficial " entry requirements, e.g Baseballs 3000 hits is regarded as almighty accomplishment, and most of the time is a Guarantee for entry. Also , players need to be retired at least 5 years I believe, to be voted in. What type of guidelines do you think would make you a candidate for A GAA football hall of fame? Discuss, and add some names who you put in, and who you leave out in the rain!

GAA Discussion / AISF Aug 23rd Tyrone v Cork
August 02, 2009, 07:11:38 PM
Definetely  the clash I wanted to see!. One great team and another possibly on the brink of greatness. Personally I think this could be a classic, Cork won't have faced this level of intensity at any point, wereas Tyrone probably haven't faced such an atheletic force as cork in a long time, should be a cracker! ;)

All right lads and lassies, have seen Kildare in action 3 times, and they are definetly a much improved outfit. However, I think they are poor at the back and will struggle against a forward line of this class......thoughts?

lads from what Ive seen today,,,,,,,,,,???????

Was talking about this the other day with a friend. Should Tyrone and Kerry make it through to the All ireland semi final in august, who would start favs? or even the final should one of them get bounced out of their provincial series? I would have to say I think Tyrone ought to be favs, reason being, Defending champions as well as "owning Kerry" over the last 3 meetings! However , somehow I dont think the bookies would see it this way. Any thoughts?

GAA Discussion / lots of schoolkids?
March 02, 2009, 12:28:50 AM
Guys and gals, in all fairness I enjoy this site a great deal. However , the constant referencing to " northerners " makes me sick >:( We are all gaels, and if one remembers , we were just another area of an occupied land, when the great founders of our great culture founded the organisation , that became known as the GAA. At a time when the english were trying to drive any culture we had left , out of us, we stood together as one and now 125 years later it would be fair to say , that we have without doubt one of the greatest sporting organisations in the world, if not the best. Why does every post come down to " anti nordie bias, northern paranoia , etc etc. Through the Gaa , we are one community, and always will be, from Antrim to Kerry! Theres no need for most of it, and before anyone says it, I know its a forum, but please feel free to rip one another to shreds through your keyboards, just keep religion and where someones from out of it! ;D

GAA Discussion / Selective video evidence
February 23, 2009, 03:19:50 PM
While not debating the actuall suspension, I find it hard to take the selective measures taken by Croke Park against certain teams. I fhte same thing had happened in a D3 game, there wouldnt be a word, and dont doubt for a minute that they do take place! But because certain teams are more in the "limelight" than others , they suffer accordingly. How hard would it be to have a tape of all intercounty games and have they reviewed every week( make a few steak eaters from Croker earn their corn for once). P.S No video of the Armagh v Laois game?

GAA Discussion / do you mind the time?
January 25, 2009, 10:04:01 PM
Was talking with someone the other day, and this came up..to be honest , dosn't happen as much now.Right up until probably late 90's, if a team was losing, or even getting battered!, wasn't it always the poor unfortunate bastard of a corner forward who got the curly finger  to come off ;D No matter if the ball never came over the halfway line, it was still the same. Thankfully most managers now have evolutionised, and this doesnt happen, but do you mind the time......! :D
