Point taken, this issue has nothing to do with the question of free access to RTE coverage

#12557
Is O'Dea getting any chances in the pre season games?
#12558
RTE are looking for full access to the 6 Counties,   does that mean anything?

If every house in the 6 co had access to  RTE would you care what the BBC was covering?

I suppose there was a  "feelgood" factor prevailing around Paradise last night  ;D

How come our draw and win against Serbia and Columbia respectively at the tail end of last season, have not advanced our position?

I know these rankings are meaningless but it is nevertheless a source of great shame, embarrassment and indeed humiliation that the North of Ireland sits ten places ahead of the real Ireland team, when you consider the gulf in size, supporter base, and calibre of player available to both >:(
To survive your humiliation either you just do as the OWC - go into denial
or switch over to the more relevant UEFA rankings where the position of the FAI is slightly higher than the IFA.

Where Ireland are a few places higher than NI.
These are the seedings that will be used for qual groups both for UEFA and FIFA.

I appreciate your obsession with scores. :)

Kiev 2   -  Drogheda 2

agg   Kiev 4 Drogs 3

Kiev through to the 3rd Qual round

Drogs had a 5 yard sitter of a chance to win the game and the tie, an unbelievable miss.

Holy f'eck
I can't believe this game.

2-2 and Drogs missed an absolute sitter
Then the Kiev Keeper allows a ball under him to spin across the goal line

Pity the Drogs didn't get Rangers.

Could be a sensational player at senior level.
Not much financial risk.
Full marks to Celtic to take the chance on young promising players like Sno and Crosas.

Live on RTE 2
1/2 time in Kiev
Kiev 1 Drogheda 1
Just turned it on in time to see Drogheda equalise from the penalty spot, looked to be a soft penalty  but maybe the Ref spotted something dastardly.
After that a Kiev player took a dive in the Drogheda box and our fearless ref didn't want to know.

Dayo Richardson on the RTE panel thought it was an obvious penalty for Drogheda and the ref was right.
Thats what I like, a definite positive intelligent no nonsense bit of punditry :)

Usually just do a search about    'ipod remote  <your brand> set up problems'
would get you to the hub of the matter

NI is not a country. It is a partition of an Irish province which is still politically connected to the UK.
It has more status than the Isle of Man.

Since the GFA, there may be some sort of a vision for Northern Ireland, a land of two communities working together in harmony but connected to the UK. A sort of a transition over from being primarily British to be Northern Irish first and British or Irish second. A new beginning type of thing.

There may even be some sort of a dream that the Northern Ireland football team can be a focus to unite communities.
Frankly that idea is still full of pus :)

There may also be some idea that the Assembly can function as a legislative parliament, a chamber where differences can be discussed and resolved. Frankly, on the surface the assembly veto paralyses that one, it has all the signs of impotency of the UN. AFAIK there is very little faith in the Assembly.

On the other hand, the ingredients that make up a united country are still strong and getting stronger despite 85 years of partition.
Essentially, that is the way the ball is rolling.

I have no emotional investment in unity, I  am quite apathetic on that one. There would be no flag waving from me.

QuoteMr Hepburn, who is convenor of the Scottish Parliament cross-party group on human rights, said the rule was aimed at preventing supporters from waving the Tibetan flag.

He said that people who had travelled from England, Wales and Northern Ireland would also be prevented from waving their national flags.
Why would Northern Ireland visitors be prevented from waving the UJ?
The loyalist banner is not the national flag.

Looks like this flag will do just nicely for all the athletes who compete for Ireland.

QuoteImgaine in Cathy Freeman was still around and won gold - what's that, you want to carry an Aboriginal flag as well as an Australian flag? Certainly not...
read the article
medal winning Athletes can fly /drape whatever they want (not tibetan) on a lap of honour.

Why is it bitter for people who consider themselves part of the uk to prefer other uk teams?

Dear God, it's almost as if nationalists see Ireland as their nation and unionists see the UK as their nation... :o
Ah Tony's groupies on patrol.
Don't all get in each others way now.
Is there nothing going on on the OWC board?

If you don't mind folks this time I am just communicating to Tony.
It's a bit of information for him.
If you don't mind please just backing off for a second.
Make a wee bit of space there.

Tony won't be back tonight so you can all go and rest now.
If you're "just communicating to Tony" you can do it via private message.
If you post on a public forum, people have the prerogative to respond, and if you don't like it you can just fecking lump it :)
You don't get it, it is not a question of my liking it or not liking it.
I have the preogative to call it as I see it.
But that takes no special skill as I am remarking on an obvious weird obsession.

Sometimes 'tis better not to feed that tedious obsession
