That's half your problem LB, ya don't think, Kelly has started 6 championship games, Smith has only started 3 championship games, it's comparing apples and oranges, you get an idea in your head about a player good or bad and that's it, same with McGeeney you thnk he's a poor manager yet results prove he's a damn good manager, but your not for changing. Fair enough you don't  rate Kelly but the Dublin full back-line got cleaned out by Meath, Meath by Kildare and Armagh by Monaghan yet you rate those boys higher and still play the youth card, give us a break.....

Quotethere could be no Derry member of such a Xv this season, the only thing consistent about them has been that they all were well below par

Below par, na that's their level... ;)
think 3 games by young smith has shown enough that hes the star man in kildare alongside Doyle. Kelly might make a good player but he has done nothing yet this season. Youth is on his side. He'd want to learn how to tackle and mark players without fouling. Carlin of tyrone got a quick yellow card and gave away a succession of frees against Brogan before having to be hauled ashore for much the same way as kelly played in his televised games!

As for your comments - in bold - funnily enough thats been kildares problem since the early 80's (maybe longer but I dont remember them much before then). I'd obv surprise you then as theres a lot of thought goes into categorisation of a player when forming my opinions.
mcgeeney is diff, he has no coaching or management background and only roy of the rovers has made the transistion successfully ...time will tell regarding mcgeeney. a one season wonder with himself and kildare a great team /manager does not make !
kildare could be the 'fermanagh' of the 00's !
as for changing my opinion - I can and have...cluxton has eradicated his stupid decision making and rashness and has turned into a goalie who is one of the best in the country if not the best. Prev I wouldnt have selected him.

DH - canty - hes living off his rep , hes been brutal this year.

 :D :D lol

you should know more about stubbornness negates coaching /managing - therefore you cant be unflexible!

as for the golf , you will be too busy covering your eyes and ears watching me try to play the game to even think about wrecking my head over kildare football !
a bit of homework for you - find out and ask you pals why Peter Farrell wasnt on the kildare teams and why he was better than your club mates in the HB line - best chb kildare never had ! same age as your pal !

1. Claffey (Roscommon)
2. Justin MacMahon (Tyrone)
3. C Walshe (Monaghan)
4. R Donavan (Sligo)
5. D Murphy (Wexford)
6. Graham Canty (Cork)
7. Ray Finnegan (Louth)
8. John Galvin (Limerick)
9. B McElvaney (longford)
10 Pádraic Joyce (Galway)
11.Martin Clarke(Down)
12. Graham Reily (Meath)
13. Johnny Doyle (Kildare)
14. Bernard Brogan (Dublin)
15. Colin Cooper (Kerry)
Good call on Claffey. Has'nt received half enough recognition for his role in Roscommon's good championship run. Excellent saves, confident claiming of high balls in to the square, intelligent passing when in possession and strong kickouts. He did it all this year fair play to him.

Yes, Claffey did have a very good year, but for the purposes of this thread, if there is only one player per county allowed, then Donal Shine was the stand out player for Roscommon in 2010.

He scored prolifically in both the National League and Championship.

Yes but putting Shine in the team would mean i would have to take out either Cooper,Brogan or Doyle IMO the best players in there teams
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

If you are picking a team on the basis of one per county (top 15) then you have to start with the best player from each county.
So lets start back from this year's semi finalists...

Cork    Canty, no doubt
Dublin   Brogan, player of the year
Down    Despite all the media hype, the big man is King in the middle o the field
Kildare   Kavangah, never mind Doyle

Now try the provinicialists

Kerry   Cooper, never in doubt
Tyrone    No team without Brian McGuigan
Rossies    Shine for me
Meath (or Louth)  I'll take Keenan form Louth

Now you have 8

Add
Harrison Sligo
Ganly of Limerick
Clerkin of Monaghan
Mckeever (Armagh)
Donegal keeper - immense
Only 2 places left for 19 counties to fill

We might just make it!
Fierce tame altogether

Your bang on with Donovan aswell, as far as im concerned he is a fair bit better than Harrison. There is no up and down with Donovan, its just consistently very good and reliable.
