Satisfying evening for Kieran Kelly. Serious job done with Killeshin it seems while his former club Ratheniska took a tumble on Thursday evening. Contrasting weekends ahead for both clubs

Did PR dispose of Kieran?

No, I meant in terms of two very good championship campaigns with two different clubs for him.

Less than 3 current Laois senior panel members stood out in round 1 of the championship. It's easy see how the county team is at such a low level

I fear for the state of the refereeing situation for the Senior champ. Poor enough showing tonight and it's not going to get any better

Does Donie Brennan now become an option for the Laois County Board to consider as the next Senior Football boss following his ladies step down? Remarkable job done with the ladies

What was so impressive about that Tipperary All-ireland winning minor team was the calibre of the Dublin side that they defeated in the final. That Dublin minor team comprised of players such as Robbie McDaid, Lowndes, Small, McCaffrey, Costello, Kilkenny, Mannion, Davy Byrne and Niall Scully who have been all key figures for Dublin over the last decade. Power was the manger of that team as well and worked on development squads prior to this bringing these players along.

Laois could do with someone of his ilk coming in and working to get the underage structures right and bring players through to senior. I cannot see any stand out internal candidates to take on the Laois senior job- perhaps Kinsella but while his record is good its not exceptional either. If Billy can pull a result at the weekend and put in a decent showing in a Tailteann Cup quarter final I wouldn't be surprised if he was to get one more year in the job. The argument could be made that he has had to deal with a high turnover or players and that he has blooded several new players and it will take another year to see the benefits of this bear fruit.

Now let's imagine your a business person and Laois GAA approach you for the 20k. Think about it and look at the people who would be asking you.

Chairperson - PJ Kelly, I can't think of one positive thing he has done in his role as Chairperson. No leadership or personality. Look across the border and see the influence Michael Duignan has had.

Hurling GDA - Declan Buggy, I don't know anything about him so I can't comment. I've heard some positive things from his previous job.

Football GDA - Donie Brennan, less said the better (represents alot of what's wrong with Laois GAA)

Head of S&C - Tom Hargroves, ran out of Tipp for running a very poor, laughable program with their senior hurlers. Their conditioning this year is chalk and cheese with last years. Just look at our senior footballers and how far they look off the pace from the middle of the road teams this year.

If 3 out of 4 of these people approached me I'd run a mile. No inspiration or initiative between them. Until we remove the deadwood and get passionate, progressive people involved we are wasting our time. We need to make Laois GAA a fashionable product and look at it as a business people want to investinandbe part of. If as it is in its current state is the best we can do, I certainly wouldn't be investing.

I'm just fed up of the whole thing and being bottom of the barrel. We will realistically never win an all ireland but we can be competitive and give people something to support and that kids want to be part of but right now, no chance. We are facilitating GAA not promoting it. Disillusioned with the whole thing.

It's a shambles on and off the field and don't let anyone tell you any different. A good mirror needed.

This is currently done and ran by volunteers.... Not full time staff. It's fine now but the volunteers will get fed up, changes to work etc and it'll all fall down again. The actual structures are not coming from the County Board. They are coming from a man who has decided in his own head enoigh is enough. Unfortunately it's a short term option

"They've a game in seven days. Nobody is dead. Granted the abuse will come but that will comes with the job anyway – we'll take the abuse and move on."

Taken from Laois Today. What's he on about?

There was a fella appointed alright but I wouldn't think much of him. The sooner he and our football GDA are got rid of the better.
Our S&C coach called in the Hurling squads mentors and told them they must cut their panels to 30 even though they have two teams entered into every blitz. Jason Coffey was doing an excellent job and was removed from the squads by the new appointment but has done very little with the squads. The guy we appointed was ran and laughed out of Tipperary GAA only last year but yet we appointed him. It's laughable the way out County Board works. I'm completely fed up of Laois GAA at the minute.

Imagine 3/4 of Laois play football, and this is the shite we put out to represent our county. We can blame Billy and the County Board (a lot of the blame lies here), but as clubs, we have to stand up and change the way we produce and develop players.  Simply not good enough. To be honest, we are wasting our times at both sports. Something dramatic has to change in both codes
