Title: Club Rankings
Post by: REDCOL on October 28, 2010, 08:16:40 PM
Came across this ranking from the Mayo News in 2007, interesting to see the fortunes of some clubs since, particularly number 17.

Anyone want to hazard a guess at the current rankings

Some climb for the Tubber in fairness! And ye are very well down the pecking order too in Garrymore! Ye'd have to be higher now methinks. Amazing to see how much can change in four years.

Hmmm, Crossmolina at number 2? I know they won the league but they were a long way off it in championship. Ballaghaderreen and Breaffy are fairly low too I would think. You're right about Burrishoole - they could be that high in fairness but they'll be stuck in Intermediate next year regardless.

Cross lost one game all year, drew with county champions in championship and remember tubber lost one game last year that was in the championship to knockmore also. Ballagh had a year to forget, in the relegation playoffs in the championships, you know all about breaffy last 8 of championship but div 1b performances 11 abou right, nobody will agree thats why its a bit of craic ;D

Great oul craic in fairness. I don't know that we can put as much store on league performances as we once did though.
If I was doing a top ten, it would be something like this

Ballintubbber
Knockmore
Castlebar
Crossmolina
Charlestown
Shrule
Breaffy
Ballina
Ballagh
Garry ;)

I can't believe we would have been regarded as 8th in '07, I would have said we've been top four for a long time.
At the mo I'd say
Tubber
K'more
Charlestown
Castlebar
Shrule
Breaffy
Cross
Ballina

Taking the last 8 in the championship as the top 8, although it's tight

B'tubber
Breaffy
C'bar
K'more
Kiltane
Garrymore
Ballina
Aghamore

Although I'd probably have Charlestown there before the last two

I would have Garrymore higher than us.

Likewise you could have Kiltane above us too. Bald men fighting over a comb TBH
