Quote from: Gael85 on April 14, 2024, 01:41:32 PMNo doubt Rangers will get a couple penalties and 10 minutes injury time.

Never, Rangers never get penalties...to try to bring them back into a game at 3 - 1 down.

Especially with a Dallas on VAR.

All in Celtic's hands now. No more slip ups.

Mc Mahon hard to listen to on co-commentary.

Quote from: GAABoardMod5 on April 13, 2024, 04:50:17 AM6 Games for 13/14 April:

4 Leinster Quarter-finals:

13-Apr  Offaly 2-13 Laois 1-8
14-Apr  Dublin v Meath
14-Apr  Kildare v Wicklow
14-Apr  Louth v Wexford

2 Ulster Quarter-finals:

13-Apr   Down 0-13 Antrim 0-9
14-Apr   Fermanagh v Armagh

Thought Laois would have had more in them going by league results. anyone see it?

Me too. I thought it'd be a 50/50 game.

Laois had a man sent off in first half I think.

Maybe there's a huge gap between lower Div. 2 & 3 and Div. 4.

Quote from: snoopdog on April 14, 2024, 08:56:34 AM20 pound in to watch that is crazy money. No wonder only 4k turned up. There was a but of a buzz last year, that's gone now. Same old souls turning uo in hope that it will change. But what do you do? Do we have the footballers? Armagh took a longtime to get to where they are today under McGeeney. We need to stick with it,  i thought when Laverty started he needed 5 years, and I still believe that. You don't come from such a low starting point to being competitive with the likes of Armagh,Monaghan, roscommons etc overnight, unless you have a good foundation. Down hadn't won anything at any level since 2009 before Laverty came in. Our size is a major issue though. Has been for years. I'd be happy with a 5 point defeat to Armagh. We have little or no chance, and if we play like we did last night it's a thumping in the kip clones again.

The only way Down will get better is by playing in Div. 2, against better teams, for a year or two.  Then try to get up to Div. 1.

No point in looking for one-off victories in thr championship.

All about moving up the levels and improving the panel via the league.

It's mad, or when you think about it, it's not really, that Israel can attack Iran and then claim if Iran attacks Israel back, it'll be self-defence.

Seems Israel and the US want to get more countres involved in the situation in the Middle East.

Two evil governments.

I'd say Brolly couldn't care less.

Anybody know why maroon is such a popular colour at club and county level?

Loads of them about but it's not really a popular colour generally.

Mc Guinness complaining about the schedule also but Donegal, I think, had a free run at Meath, but Mc Brearty was played and got injured.

These managers want more time but at the same time, they'll be training away 3 or 4 times a week yet they'll complain about injuries and tight schedules.

I, as well as many others, see through that.

Quote from: marty34 on April 07, 2024, 02:38:00 PMCeltic need to call out Beaton and his officiatating.  Very poor but not unexpected. A no penalty given to get them in the game. I knew he'd give them a gift of a penalty. Celtic need to call that out.

In saying that, Celtic being 2-0 up and 3-2 up in injury time and giving up the draw is poor.

Disappointing but league still in Celtic's hands. No more slip ups. Know what is at stake now in terms of winning all the games.
Is the league not in Rangers hands if they win every game or do they meet each other again?

They meet again at Celtic Park.

Quote from: Bord na Mona man on April 07, 2024, 09:04:30 AMIt would have been some injustice if Clare had lost the game coming down the strait. Especially as the ref looked to be giving the Cats plenty of assistance near the end.
Cody hitting the penalty down into the mud patch was a schoolboy error. TJ Reid would have put it high towards the top corner.

In fairness he let Fitzgerald take close to 10 steps for his goal, you don't usually see a player being allowed to pause, cut inside (while still not taking a tap) and then continue

He's a serious man for taking 10 steps.

In fairness, easily the best player in the National League this year. Clare will be hoping he keeps this run of form up. With David Mc Enerney, Shanagher and O'Donnell off the bench last night Clare are working on developing their panel. Just need them injury free as Munster will be tough.

Lohan needed the win last night to justify his work. Well deserved. Were the better team throughout. Clare were hungry and aggressive and in Mc Carthy and Duggan, they have good outlets up top.

Malone works hard in mid-field, Cleary is an old style full-back with Hogan developing into a super man marker/cornerback.  With TK to come back, they'll by boosted for Munster.

KK were disappointing although they still have that never say die spirit. They seemed to be off the boil a bit e.g. Blanchfield missing the pick twice for Clare's goal.  Simple stuff.
Cody's penalty was poorly struck in the marsh. Who know what would have happened if it went in but they didn't deserve it.

TJ was a big miss as on out bll at full-forward although Mossy Keoghan showed really well when introduced - 3 points I think.

I love the seeing a pitch covered at half-time with young and old, fathers and mothers with their kids etc. pucking and kicking a ball about. No issues.

A great sight.

Conversely, I've seen kids being hunted off pitches i.e. Athletic Grounds at inter-county club championship games by 'jobworths' and it's only 2 or 3 kids looking to kick or puck about, not 500 children.

A joke.

Quote from: Feckitt on April 06, 2024, 09:26:22 PMJust watched Simon Harris' inaugural leaders speech at FG Ard Fheis. Not one single word on a United Ireland.  Not one single mention of new constitutional arrangements.  Not one single utterance about the Irish Government preparing for reunification.

Not in the list of priorities for most people.

Was people actually expecting this from Harris and FG?

It's FG. They don't care.

Quote from: Tubberman on April 05, 2024, 10:50:39 PMWill he ask about the embarrassing legal threat to Supermacs over the April Fools joke?

They'll not apologise for clamping down on ambush marketing and rightly so.

They'd want to pick and choose their battles.
Corporate Croke Park against a homegrown company that is a big GAA sponsor isn't likely to win much popular support.

Who is "corporate Croke Park"? There is only one GAA and these people are charged with protecting the brand to raise revenue for all of us. Supermacs should be undermining the brand in this way and would likely be just as protective of anyone using their brand.

It was a bit of craic on April Fools Day from a company long associated with the GAA. Paddy Power is at it every day of the week. Trumped up nonsense from know alls in HQ who have lost the run of themselves.  The same muppets who would ban charity advertising on jerseys and are driving the GAAGO  paywall.

I think they 'banned' Tipperary from wearing the DQ Foundation jerseys last year iirc.

Bit of common sense would go down well at HQ.
