If I have to stop play.

Though if a physio comes on and can administer a spray while play continues I'm happy with that, should I have to blow the whistle and the player requires assistance they have to go off, now seeing as it was my first real go at it, I waved the player on rather than waiting for a break, he was genuinely hurt from a tackle from the other team, its a bit unfair surely to disadvantage them twice?

But is that not wrong, going by them new rules?

Completely

Bitta common sense needs to be applied and while I'm not against following it to the letter, sometimes it's actually counterproductive and not serving the reason why it's introduced

The reason for the new rules is to prevent cynical playacting,  faking injuries to slow the game down like nicky quaid getting something in his eye last year.
If its genuine then it's harsh but if they're acting the bollox then I'd make them wait for the next break in play.

This rule was apparently amended during the week, to include the goalkeeper! Doesn't make much sense.

I said that a few weeks ago that to circumvent all this is for the keeper to go down. The rule didn't mention keepers.

I'd make it another player must stand i  goals and team down to 14 players until next break in play.

No, I totally agree with you.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in big games during the summer.

Mc Guinness didn't ruin football - simple as.

Sport is always evolving.

I remember the interview with MÓD on TG4 at half-time.  He was chatting to Cassidy live and Mc Guinness came over to be interviewed (i can't remember if it was before or after the game) but they were yards apart with MÓD in the middle.

It was just the timing of it and how they came together.

It wasn't long after the book I think.

Quote from: The Trap on April 17, 2024, 01:30:34 PMJust listened to Jarlath Burns on BBC. I like Jarlath and hope he has a great reign but some thoughts (hope he reads the GAA Board lol)

He was very coy about payments being made to managers. His son is on the Armagh panel. They are one of the most "professional" set ups around. McGeeney, Donaghy, Gilligan etc are on tens of thousands of pounds. The Armagh players virtually never play for their clubs and the club leagues in the county are terrible.

This is replicated up and down the country but surely Jarlath must know what's happening on his doorstep.

Because these people are getting paid so well they are placing so many demands on players to justify their existence. This is the problem in the GAA!!!!!

Just started listening. Surely he doesn't really believe that the Orange Order is in any way comparable to the GAA?

Also loved how he managed to say that the tournaments etc named after IRA men aren't actually GAA organised. A clued in interviewer would have asked him who Sam Maguire was! Or maybe he was ok because he was in the old IRA.

AOH is the same as the OO.

I hope Burns didn't compare the GAA with the OO.

BBC having this interview on unionist terms as usual.

Shane O'Donnell and Adam Hogan great at 'winning' frees this way.  Raising their hands high in the tackle and the ref. gives them a free.

The one he got booked after for for arguing? Never for me, he wad going nowhere and looked for it.

Yeah, that one.

I though he was clipped. It was a clumsy attempt at a tackle and I've seen them given a lot of times.

Doesn't matter if it's unintential, it's still a foul.

Doesn't really matter where's he's going. if in the box.

It's going like rugby that players must have a 'duty of care' to other players in the tackle.

That's a good thing in my opinion. Anything hit around the head is dangerous.

You'll be looking for mitigating circumstances etc etc as well now  ;D

Maybe a TMO JC?  :)

Quote from: yellowcard on April 15, 2024, 10:04:42 PMArmagh have shown glimpses of the 2022 championship form this year but I'd still be worried that they will slip back into last years negative mindset when faced with better opposition. The same thing happened in the League final again when the stakes were heightened and the fear of losing took over.

The Ulster final, should we get there, could well be the defining game of the season because they won't be winning an All Ireland title. For a lot of those players it's probably the last chance saloon to try and win meaningful silverware.

Is it meaningful silverware?

It definitely is, anybody who says otherwise is deluding themselves.

Devalue everything except the one cup that's pretty much unattainable for most counties in a given year, it's a coping mechanism to avoid disappointment

This is it, 100%

Fair comment.

Quote from: illdecide on April 15, 2024, 10:46:17 AMCeltic will play 3 at home (Hearts, Dundee and Sevco) and 2 away (Kilmarnock and St Mirren). Some weekend that but it's not as significant as made out, they win 6 games they win the league. The only thing is they have to beat us at CP and can't afford another slip-up.

Decent run in.

I'm just annoyed that if Celtic throw this away it's on the board and Rogers.

This league should have been tied up weeks ago but for inepitude from the board down.

Quote from: marty34 on April 12, 2024, 06:04:56 PMAnybody know why maroon is such a popular colour at club and county level?

Loads of them about but it's not really a popular colour generally.

Two counties with Maroon jerseys, Galway and Westmeath, far more red, red and white, let alone green jerseys out there.

But it's not a popular colour in terms of clothing. Yet two counties have it.

Plus loads of club teams have it.

I was wondering the significance of it.
