Quote from: Nanderson on Today at 09:38:30 PMLooked a strong shout for a pen for Scotland. Not sure if he was maybe offside when the ball was played through but VAR didn't even warrant a ref check

Does VAR not check all incidents like that?

Never a penalty. He was falling before he was touched.

Quote from: marty34 on Today at 05:25:16 PMAnother palmed goal.

Are they legal?

? Did they take possession of the ball and then palm it?

No, the usual palm/push in from a ball that came across from the other side of the square.

Quote from: yellowcard on Today at 09:42:24 AMPlenty of complaining about a penalty from the team that won the match but very little about the fact that McKaigue scored the equaliser over 1 minute past the 4 added minutes. Then blew the extra time up early before the full time had elapsed.

I think you ahould watch from 70 mins onwards.

Quote from: lenny on Today at 06:44:59 AMIncredible result for Derry, well done to the players and management. My tupppence worth on the Mayo penalty for a footblock. The referee surely made a bad mistake on this one as the ball doesn't hit Mckinless on the foot. It hits him high up on the back of his leg. Surely for a footblock the ball has to be blocked by the foot. Also the ref came in and booked Lynch which shows that he didn't have a clear view of what happened and therefore he should have consulted his umpires.

Definately wasn't a penalty but in fairness, it was hard for any of us to see in real time. We had the benefit of the replay a few times to clarify it.

Officials don't have that.  Re: the booking, Lynch was coming out also and referee probably thought it was his leg/foot.

As I say, very hard to see in real time.
If it was hard to see in real time and he wasn't sure all the more reason not to give it

He would probably say he did see a foot block (in real time) and hence the reason he gave it.

Dooher reminds me of Roy Keane in a way. A fantastic player who set, and demanded, very high standards.

Maybe as a coach/manager, he has them high standards but the players aren't at that level. Maybe that's unfair?

Logan I though would bring a calmness and logical thinking to the group and that the two would work well together.

In regards to their AI win a few years ago, great as it was etc. it's not regarded as a 'proper' AI win. So the management don't get the full credit for that win. It'll always be held against them.  Performances/wins since that seem to justify that analysis.

The thing is, Tyrone as a huge nationalist county, will always have the players an will always be in the running for Ulster minor, U20 and senior championships.  They'll always have the talent coming through to senior level.

One player who I admire hugely is Mattie Donnelly. A legend to Trillick and Tyrone football. Serious injuries and to still come back, year after year, just shows the drive in the man. A serious operator and a great leader.

Quote from: ONeill on Today at 12:07:55 AMNot being weird, but is the smell of your own home not the best smell. Your house you grew up in.

Yeah, the smell relates to memories I think and this brings you back to your childhood.

Very true.  At that level, it's mad.

Yeah. You can't rip the ball out of someone's hands.

Quote from: OakLeaf on June 22, 2024, 07:43:06 PMDisgusting decision for the penalty. Ball kicked into McKindless who did not lift his foot and Lynch gets the card. Absolutely clueless

Never a penalty in a million years.

Very poor decision.
