My club are looking to offer the option of doing the club lotto online.
Has anyone here got information on options on this?
I think the Gaa in leinster/Dublin have a preferred supplier...

Any view or experience with setting this up and contact details if so.

Also welcome and pitfalls and things to avoid!

Hi folks, have tickets for a gig in the odyssey. The seats are for the upper tier at the other end of the hall from the stage.
Just wondering approx how far is this end from the actual stage?
As its an ice hockey pitch length I'm hoping that it will be no more than 50-60 meters?
TIA

Chaps, I'm considering purchasing a new pad. However one of the potential options at least may need a new sewage system/new septic tank and associated solution.

I would like to know of the options about that would be in line with recent gov septic tank and sewage regulations - as well as the costs of these.

If anyone has knowledge of how these options work , I'd appreciate the info.
Eg how much manual intervention is required per year and what this entails!

This way I can factor in the potential cost of septic tank and system into potential purchase price!

Thanks in advance!

Folks, tried to search for the old Oz thread but the search keeps returning an 'error message'.
Unless someone can find and resurrect this for me , I'd appreciate some more/same info on Oz.
A very close pal of mine (not on the board) is thinking of going there for a holiday over Christmas.
The plan is to go to Sydney, Cairns (Port Douglas he has been told is better than cairns), Melbourne and maybe perth. Retuning home and stopping off at either singapore or hong Kong pref (his plan is to do a bit of shoping along with his missus - are these places any good?)

Where would be the good areas to go in each to stay?
Any tips on self catering places or good hotels to go to.
Normally he likes 5 star accomodation, but I think for 3 to 4 weeks he would be looking at places that average out at 100-150 euros a night (less pref if it is a good clean place in a good area and self catering).

Any other tips or must do's/must see's ?
appreciate any info.

Hope all goes well.

best of luck Mr shy and retiring Fuzz

ok its not GAA fans (it never is !!!) - a couple of people will be expecting me topost this so I cant let them down.
To be fair- its not even soccer fans, as Ireland have a fantastic rep throughout the world for fans behaviour.
its these young feckers that follow rovers (though in the tv clip I saw earlier there was an older chap on the pitch looking to fight also).

the fai need to sort rovers and ther so called fans out.
There are a lot of rovers fans I know who are decent and sound, but this other shower are f**king it up for everyone.

St Patrick's Athletic are to investigate the incidents that occured after last night's FAI Ford Cup semi-final against Shamrock Rovers at Richmond Park.

The club has also pledged to take immediate action against any fans found to be involved in the post-match crowd trouble.

Pat's were beaten 1-0 at Richmond Park and after the game, a number of Shamrock Rovers supporters invaded the pitch. Pat's fans then also entered the playing area and Gardaí and security staff were forced to intervene as fans engaged in taunting and aggressive behaviour.

A statement on the club website www.stpatsfc.ie said: 'St Patrick's Athletic have already committed to taking action against any supporters found to be involved in the disturbances.

'St Patrick's Athletic is committed to ensuring that Richmond Park is a place where people can enjoy football in a safe, secure and friendly environment.

'A full review of the incidents that occurred at the end of last night's match is already underway at the club.

General discussion / where to buy a Digital SLR camera
September 18, 2010, 12:09:32 PM
Cant find that last thread where the consensus was that a Canon DSLR 500d or 550d (or indeed a 450d) were among the best buys

for comparison purposes - any reccomendations on where best to buy - web or in belfast/north of Ireland.
Dublin prices are over €100 dearer per camera....

General discussion / Playstation 3 v xbox v nintendo
September 13, 2010, 04:48:45 PM
Howya folks,
I have been asked to track down whats best for the sisters kids in terms of playstation 3 or xbox etc.

Kids already have a playstation 2 and want to be able to swap the games with classmates who all seemingly have playstation 3's now.

I'd tell them to shut up and play with what they have, but first question can you play the ps2 games on the ps3 ?
Is there any benefit in upgrading to a xbox or wii or nintendo (is that the other big alternative - I cant even remember!!)

Where is best to buy these fecking things..

TIA

Well every other county is posting theirs...

Required,New Manager to
Manage, Coach, cajole, cuddle, molly coddle, mother,  kick ass, educate, put manners on, take no s**t, discipline, forge interpersonal links,  encourage , grow team ethic, promote trust with people from outside their own parish etc etc

a group of serial underachieving players that play as individuals and will fight with each other at the drop of a hat require a manager, with Jesus-like/kofi Annan-like ablities of intercession and mediation initially , but with massive football tactics and appetite for progression to get these people talking to each other and then playing 'INTELLIGENT' football  as a unit rathe than passing only to their relations or club mates on the side.

Derry county board will understand if the candidate would prefer to go sort out the problems between Israel and Palestine instead for an easier life.

General discussion / more soccer hooliganism in Dublin
August 15, 2010, 10:10:57 PM
while isolated incidents of fans fighting or attacking players/refs etc are disgracefully still occasional in this country,
this pre-meditated plan of action by soccer fans shows the difference there is between soccer and Gaa sports fans.
The reason why I post this is because some people try to label soccer in Ireland - whether it is Dublin, Belfast of Cork - as being similar in its 'violence' to GAA - but while GAA have the same kinds of thugs in a minority, soccer have theirs and worse- its organised - thats hooliganism , and they are light years in their difference.

from sunday tribune today !

Shamrock Rovers fans held after rampage in rivals' pub
Jennifer Bray
Eight Shamrock Rovers fans were arrested last Sunday after causing extensive damage to a Dublin pub following a fixture against rival club Bohemians.

after the match, which took place in Tallaght Stadium, Rovers' home ground, about 20 fans travelled by bus from Tallaght to the Phibsborough House pub on the northside of the city, which is close to Bohemians' home at Dalymount Park.

It is understood the Rovers fans began causing trouble in the quiet pub, smashing windows and throwing glasses.

Gardaí arrested three men at the scene and questioned a further five men at Bridewell station.

The three who were arrested were all in their late teens and were released last week. Files will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It is understood the troublemakers have been caught on CCTV. The pub is said to have been badly damaged and is now in the process of analysing the costs and beginning repairs.

A spokesman for the Phibsborough House confirmed the incident but declined to comment any further.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí at Mountjoy were called to an incident in a public house in Phibsborough at 7.45pm where three men were arrested.

"Five juveniles were taken to Bridewell Garda Station and were dealt with accordingly. A large amount of damage was done to the public house.

"All three were released and a file has been sent to the DPP."

despite just watching Derry do their usual, was just thinking that today is fantastic for watching games on the telly !
Derry v Kildare then Dubs v Armagh and finally Cork v Waterford in the hurling.

OK these being on the TV will def affect the attendances , but in comparison to the pre-qualifier days when there was feck all football and hurling on the telly - this is fantastic.

However do people think that these games shoul dnot be televised and try to drag punters out to the stadia to encourage support and atmosphere at games?
Prices might come down too also if so!

still what a day for watching the telly. Not gonna bother cutting the lawn !

Our games are becoming more competitive than ever, especially as the standard levels out and more counties are capable of winning to at least get to an All Ireland final (given the right draw).
I think the GAA's policy for pouring money into coaching and coaching staff towards kids is paying off. Certainly is for Dublin hurling !
Another good recipient for our GAA money to be used by imo is the installation of CCTV type video cameras in every county ground that coul dbe used as a championship venue. That means 34 ish grounds I'd expect.
Then if a player is reported by whatever new procedure is brought in as having perportrated something that requires review - a retro suspension can be handed out. There will be no whinging about unfairness as there will be a policy and soon I'd hope, all dirty fouls will be eradicated from the game- as players will realise they will be suspended !

Again in my opinion, there have been a few contentious incidents during the season thus far that need something to augment the powers of observation from the ref, his linesmen and his umpires.
I would be in favour of having video replays reviewed by a GAA ref in whatever booth to give the ref a proper opinion on what any decision should be.
An american football style 'three challenges' type scenario could be used - so the game isnt completely cluttered up with stopages.
Again these ideas will cost money to implement, but the assocation has the money for such capital investment and this kind of technology is getting very cheap to buy - and hard disks for storage are cheaper still.
A 'video ref' woul dhave given a quick answer on sunday and the hoo ha and arguing would have stopped instantly on sunday before the final whistle.

Our players and teams and refs train a lot all year round. an Inch is an advantage, we need to shore up loopholes and policy and procedure and if video replays can ascertain if a point was a point or a wide etc through a challenge - I think we go from being the slap happy paddys to an organisation whoi does everything it can to promote fair play and cut out all contention.

Croke park? what do you say?

hot on the heels of my other question on places to eat, I have been asked to source a place to stop to feed 30-40 under 12 hurlers travelling down from Kevin Lynchs Dungiven to Tipperary.

The places to stop are just before Dublin or possibly just after it (Route is via Newry ,M1, then M50 and out the M7).

Ideas and suggestions so far are the City North hotel at the stamullen exit on M1,
also the Fingallians GAA club outside of swords...
anywhere else that would be half decent but not pricey and easy to get to for the journey down?
Somewhere not far south of dublin on M7 also a possibility !
