Armagh would have got at least a draw out of that game had they 15 men for the full 70 minutes.  A rested Tyrone don't have to much to boast about winning by 2 points at home with the man advantage from the 29th minute.

Sending off ends this game as a contest. A matter of the margin of victory for Tyrone now.

What's with all the filled in holes on the Healy Park pitch, are they growing potatoes?

Is there any other team sport in the world that has chopped and changed it's playing rules as much as GAA football the last 20 years?  Arguably the current state of football where it's mainly low risk and where possession is king is a direct result of too much changing already but hey lets do some more rule changing and on this occasion the shit thrown against the wall might stick?

Jose Mourinho's flawless record in European finals over. Sevilla love affair with this competition continues

Be here all night at this rate.
A final that started in May and will finish in June.

1-1 extra time to be played, no real surprise there.

Jose Mourinho's record in European finals v Sevilla's record in Europa League finals.  It's Roma 1-0 ahead at half time.

It will be a tough battle but I still think Tyrone by 5 as they need it that bit more. I expect to see a little more memory muscle in Tyrones performance ie  for winning big games.
I think Tyrone are better than both Ulster finalists

Based on?
Derry without Gallagher are not up to last year's standards.
Armagh struggled against Westmeath and couldn't beat Derry.
Plus I think the format with the multi match run it to the qfs suits Tyrone.
It will suit teams that will top their group and how likely it that now to happen for Tyrone after losing to your own Galway?

Jury is out on Derry without Gallagher, beating the same division 1 opposition twice in a matter of weeks is never easy.  Armagh against Westmeath understandably had a Ulster final hangover after losing on penalties.

As I said already I feel Tyrone will edge this game with home and the schedule advantage.

[4 all irelands and numerous ulster titles. Thought that would have been obvious to someone called Captain Obvious 🤣

So you are basing it on nostalgia than Tyrones form the last two years. Still waiting on Seafoid answer.

Home advantage and two weeks to prepare/rest will allow Tyrone to edge this game.

I think you are seeing a drop off in Derry due to the absence of Gallagher. Both Donegal and Derry now have caretaker managers and the uncertainty can't be good for either team. That game will not be one for the purist and I'd predict a horrible spectacle and the fact that it is in Ballybofey there won't be much in it. If Derry get out with any sort of victory they would sign up for that now.

Yeah that's my take too.
Earlier in the year I would have had us in with a real chance of an AI. Now, it wouldn't surprise me if we finished 3rd in the group and got knocked out in the QF.
The loss of Gallagher is huge for this team in terms of the intensity he drew out of the players. That has definitely been missing the last 2 games.
Gallagher prepared the team for the Armagh - i appreciate he wasn't at the game but it was always going to be a tight game. If Brendan Rogers had of fisted the point over the bar near the end we'd probably have won by 3 points and everyone would say it was a great performance. Levels definitely dipped for the Monaghan game, who were excellent on the day, had 4 weeks to prepare and played us in their last game. We would have found that game tough under RG too. Every provincial finalist underperformed in the 1st round of group games.

I'm still expecting us to beat Donegal but probably not as hopeful of a long run in the AI as i was pre RG scandal but we'll see. The last day out, of our key players only McGuigan has performed near the level we have become accustomed to so I am still expecting an improvement in the next 2 group games.

I see Vinney Corey isn't happy with the scheduling as it gives Clare an advantage this week (2 week rest). He wasn't too bothered about it last week.

To be fair if done right every team woud be getting at least two weeks between every game.

Just make a new sport while you're at it

Whatever new rules you put in place a manager/coach will look at it and work it towards their needs.

Possession football is all that matters, the more you have of the ball the more you control, millions watch, love and support soccer, its a possession game and the team with the most possession usually wins.

Its changed over the years, some say for the better, but its very boring at times

Unless it's a Jose Mourinho managed team who loves to control games without the ball and can regularly win games with 30% or less possession.

GAA Discussion / Re: Ros v Dubs tomorrow

A great performance by Roscommon yesterday. But surely no one can be surprised by this. They are a strong team who have battled it out with the top teams in the country over the past year and who came to Croke Park well prepared for the game. They came up against a Dublin team who had not been exposed to the required level of intensity for some time - and yet in the end Roscommon were lucky to get away with the draw. It may be that this will be the closest Roscommon will get to Dublin for some time.
Nonsense, Dublin are a pale shadow of what they were for most of the last decade.
So far this year kildare should have closed out the Leinster semi, Derry beat them, Clare should have held on, cork had a great chance to beat them too, didn't see the first kildare league game, but all of these games were more or less the minimum margin, they've had plenty of tight intense games this year.

Some fair points there.

Of course "Dublin are a pale shadow of what they were for most of the last decade", and it's for that reason that Dessie Farrell spent the league and Leinster Championship trying to beef up the squad. They didn't go out trying to wipe teams out but at the end of the day they managed to win Leinster and finish top of Division 2.

If we're honest, with the new championship format, it's very hard to assess where any of the teams stand now. There are a lot of games to be played yet. And we're all hoping for the best for our own favourites.

COYBIB

Trying to beef up the squad, how successful has Dessie Farrell got with that in the last 4 years?  Instead of trying to make more new faces become established starters he's brought back Paul Mannion,Jack McCaffrey,Stephen Cluxton and then you have 35 year old Michael Fitzsimons who was unavailable for the Leinster championship drafted right back into the starting 15 on Sunday.
