trying to do a promotional picture for our club. I want to cut out the players, i can do this via paint but when i try and put in on publisher it carries the white bit around it. Any ideas??
Maybe just take a new picture of the Sperrins or something .
A bit roundabout, but Powerpoint has a very handy "Remove Background" facility that works on any images imported.
Try the Gimp. It was as good as Photoshop for the simple stuff last time I used it.
Watch your file format too. If you save as a jpg then I don't think it supports transparent backgrounds. If you save as a png then it should recognise transparency. If your application doesn't support png then you might want to try an evaluation copy of Adobe Fireworks. I swear by it as a web-friendly image editing tool but it's decent for print too. Doesn't have as many bells and whistles as Photoshop but it's plenty good enough for anything I've ever done.
