Tyrone fixtures makers taking lots of plaudits for the early finish this year but did the reserve legaues not descend into a bit of a farce?
What has happened the Div 2 reserve league?? 3 teams level, who are the winners? Not that it matters greatly outside of the teams involved!!
i think it raises the wider issue of the state of reserve football in general with large numbers of reserve fixtures in all divisions not being fullfilled this season

The problem was the reserve championship being finished for the first week in July, that meant it was hard to motivate the players to continue training for league games that would be played in September/October, and in fairness to the fixtures committee they listened to players in the review from the previous season, same with the senior championship in playing the compo earlier, but I think on reflection the reserve championship needed to held back to keep the reserve league going.
i dont think playing the reserve championship early would have been that big of an issue if there had be a regular set of fixtures afterwards, plaing everyweek and knowing whats happening in advance.
I think its maybe time to separate the reserve fixtures from tehs enior ones and give the reserve footballers a more regular fixed set of fixtures, these wont be effected by county football , so theer should be very few reasons for fixtures to change

Can't disagree with one word of that, but I know that's the reason why our league season in reserve football fell away, lads got bored with nothing to aim for, relegation wasn't going to happen unless the senior team got into trouble with it

It definitely does matter to some teams - I hear its going to the ulster council for a decision - AFAIK Loughmacrory putting in a complaint about Greencastle finishing level on points with the others.

Think Ulster Council ruled in favour of Loughmacrory but TCB have passed it on to Croke Park for a hearing

There certainly needs to be something done. The idea of a compact reserve championship mid summer was OK but it means that any team out of championship and no possibility of winning league just forfeited the remaining fixture which meant on some weekends less than 50% of the fixtures actually took place and this was across all 3 divisions. It is difficult to expect a reserve player who wont feature in senior squad to continue training after they are out of both comps and not even knowing when next fixture is. At club senior level across the 3 leagues at least every team has something to play for even if they are out of Championship be it - top 4, play offs or avoiding relegation. It would have been few teams who could have switched off after 10/12 ACL games and said that was their season over as they had nothing to play for. The solution is a difficult one but someone has suggested playing the reserve leagues separately from senior football and playing every weekend with no delays due to county players etc - all good in theory but if we start in early April and play 15 games in a row with a 2 week holiday period the league is still over in early August but where do you fit in the reserve championship....we cannot play it in August because in most cases that is when the senior championship takes place in all 3 sectors - if we play it in June then half the teams are out and will have problems to field for remainder of the league campaign....Not an easy one to sort out

What was the basis of the complaint? Did Greencastle get a lot of w/o etc?

Having played junior football most of my "career", it is a nightmare if you get knocked out of the reserve championship early, especially for clubs with a smaller pick. However, I have alos been on the other side where the reserve championship did not kick off until mid August. The seniors played the preliminary round in the championship and the 1st round went to a replay. It meant  that by the time  the reserve championship was played we had used something like 27 players through injuries/suspensions/substitutions in the seniors who we ineligible. Panel was at the bare bones

We did nt win the reserves..... :-X

What did T Kernan do?

Congratulations to Omagh - I see they are favourites to win outright now with the bookies - it would be some achievement.

In other news Kildress have appointed a new manager - Barry Dillon (trainer of Ardboe last year and Jordanstown)

Any other managerial appointments? Mc Cabe still with Donaghmore? What about the Moy, is Philly Jordan staying on? Eglish keeping Clarke and McGahan?

Apparently Greencastle had conceded their last game against Aghyaran but after hearing that Lough beat Pomeroy they got Aghyaran to say that they had concede the game.  They county board had on the Tyronegaa.ie website that Greencastle had conceded but have since changed the game to postponed.  Lough appealed the County boards decision to the Ulster council and were successful.  The County Board have now appealed the Ulster Councils decision to Croke Park!!

Only confirmed change to date appears to be McKinless taking over Ardboe - apart from that have heard nothing else. I hear quite a few teams are on the lookout but no concrete appointments yet as far as I am aware but stand corrected. I would say that all of the teams you mention above will remain the same

What is Cross's record like v Tyrone clubs?

Errigal and Omagh bate them...did Dromore play them a few years back?
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

In the last 20 years Errigal have beaten them twice. Think it was 1997 or something like that and 2002 (after 2 replays). Cross beat them in 2012. Think Cross also beat Carrickmore one year? They also beat Dromore - I'd guess 5 or 6 years ago - was a closs game in Clones.

Lost to EC twice and Omagh, beat EC once, Dromore, Killyclogher, and Carrickmore.

Carmenalways

In what year did cross beat carrickmore? Never in my recollection. Stand to be corrected.

Carmenalways

In fact....cross never beat carrickmore in ulster club.

brokencrossbar1

You're right about that so scrub that one off but definitely played Killyclogher in 2003 as it was on TV and I watched it from a hospital after having an accident and was unable to tog out b

wee scully

Division 2 reserve league - Loughmacrory reckoned they won it - a few in the CCC decided otherwise  - Loughmacrory appealed the neighbour man's decision to make it a playoff and went to Ulster and they won hands down. The seemingly friendly neighbour seemed to do eveything to ensure that the noisy neighbours didn't get the trophy early on and it appears that the resident's committee have been duped into thinking that the best way to resolve the dispute is to take it to the highest authority and pour red diesel onto the fire. Meanwhile the clubs who played for most of the year have packed up and gone home and the cup trophy that was to be presented for the reserve league is lying in a cupboard or the back seat of some man's car.

Another fine mess we've got ourselves into. More trips to Armagh, Dublin, diesel money and big feeds to be paid for.

If there are quite a number of teams on the lookout for a manager, what all managers are available on the market? Any up and coming coaches/managers in the county and beyond worth their reckoning?
