The prime minister has insisted the government will make a "significant contribution" to the redevelopment of Casement Park.

Rishi Sunak refused to say how much more money the government would be willing to put up or if it would happen in time for Euro 2028.

He was asked about the issue by BBC News NI during a visit to Belfast on Friday.

The PM also said ongoing discussions meant he would not say when exactly the government will make further details public.

However, he added he would ensure there would be a "great legacy for Northern Ireland" in the Euros.

Chris Heaton-Harris and Rishi Sunak took a trip on a zero-emission electric boat during a visit to Belfast's Titanic Quarter

Northern Ireland is due to host five games in the football championships at Casement Park in west Belfast.

But the stadium site remains derelict and redevelopment work has yet to begin.

At the weekend, the Irish FA and the GAA sent a joint letter to the prime minister urging him to clarify the funding for the project.

But the cost of the redevelopment could be more than £300m and the PM would not say whether funding will be confirmed before July's general election.

Not looking good now, probably will still happen but can't see it done it time for the Euros which i'm not one bit bothered about tbh. I know this is childish, but would really love Dublin to step up and fund the rest and let them see what we have and look on in envy. Pure shambles from day one...

Having Galway on a neutral venue will help but they look like they're building momentum and could go far in the Championship but will not win it. Armagh as per usual will be left behind sucking a hind tit.
Love to see great support for the lads! ;)

I'll be there giving my support like i do every year. I just know what's coming from experience :)

When a Contractor tenders for a scheme like this they will cost it to the drawings and specifications, the Consultant acting for the client will have a Pre-Tender costing done so they will have a rough idea what it's going to cost. Whoever the Principal Contractor is whose tender is accepted this price will be accepted by the Consultant acting on behalf of the Client (Ulster Council) and will not change. It almost certainly will increase due to Compensation Events and Early Warnings during Construction but the Client and Consultant will know this and  a % is always set aside for this.
Today £36m is set aside for local soccer stadiums for upgrades, was it £60m for a poxy ice rink in Dundonald and still the sectarian hatred in this hole of a place is still holding us back for this stadium. Disaster from the day they closed the ground prematurely.

Scales is an out and out defender, he's best when he has his back to the wall and BR knows this. When he has time on the ball he gets a bit indecisive but when Celtic are under the cosh he's your man, he'll defend all day and night and put his body on the line to do it. Celtic have better CH's than Scales but maybe not to go to war with...you get what i'm saying.
I just loved Jamesie Forrest's last 4 weeks, the wee man has got some grief of the fans and i just don't understand it TBH, never gives the ball away and is an intelligent footballer. I know he's not the quickest anymore and may not have the engine to last 90 mins but that experience of winning can't be bought and he has it in spades.
BR told everyone judge me in May and he has delivered, I'm not gonna lie, 6 weeks ago I thought we were toast and they had all the momentum but they still have that losing mentality and Celtic have winners in their squad. Football can turn so quickly in a matter of weeks.

I have this bad feeling in my stomach that this is going to be packed defenses and 15 men behind the ball with cross field passing until we're gonna pull our own hairs out. If this happens Armagh can do one, if i've to go back up that road again losing another close game thru defensive football I swear to f**k i'll crack. If we're gonna lose i'd rather have a go at them and play an entertaining  and enjoyable game of football. Take the shackles off and have a rattle at them!.

this Ulster final is so difficult to predict. It is a mystery for now how it will play out. Will Armagh go all out attack and go for it?. Will they go all defensive and turn it into a bore?.
Will Donegal match what Armagh do?. I suppose it will depend on what both teams do, If Armagh go all out attack Donegal will do likewise and we could have a classic which might just suit Donegal. This is why I thing Armagh will be a bit conservative and Donegal will have to follow suit as they'll be playing into a blanket across the 45m line, for me it will only open up if one teams falls a bit behind and have to go for it.

Heart is saying Armagh by 1-2pts but head is fighting that prediction. Armagh haven't been great to date and Donegal had the freedom of the park against Derry, I honestly believe Derry would beat Donegal 4 outta 5 times if they were to play again. Derry had 34 scoring chances against Donegal and the goals conceded were just freakish TBH but they did score them and they did beat Derry so for that alone they have to start as favourites for this game.

As for tickets...my club are struggling to provide tickets for everyone who has their name down for them, sounds like a sell out.

I think a lot of you need to think more carefully about calling these so called people "Fans". I'm from Lurgan and it pisses me off a bit when people come on here and just post up "Lurgan people are scumbags". These people you are talking about come from everywhere and don't care what the attraction is, they're there for the party and couldn't name you 3 players. The real fans are there for majority of the games home and away through thick and thin and thousands come from Lurgan to support Armagh.
I see drunken fans at every game from every County so no crap about being far away to travel/size of town nonsense or whatever else was posted, the fact is the further in the Championship you go the more idiots you get unfortunately. The All Ireland final will sort that out as tickets are so hard to get and there'll be no Lurgan ones drunk at that either.

Jasus lads don't be so tight, throw us up your spare change...lol.
On a serious note i've changed my tune now regarding Casement and the whole DUP and Government crap up here. With whatever we have in funding and handouts build whatever we can afford and f**k the whole lot of them, if it ends up a 25000 stadium so be it. Let them all go to hell and F**K the Euro's too, F**K the DUP and F**K everyone...ARRGGGHHHHH

Quote from: illdecide on April 25, 2024, 09:38:06 AMAs for Armagh game...Armagh will always give you good chances in a game and if you take most of them then you'll be in touching distance, if you fail they'll have a wee spell where they can pull away from you easily and game could be over (this is for the lesser teams BTW). Armagh are very unpredictable and could win by 1-2 pts or 15pts it's all down to the other teams taking the chances Armagh give them in the game.
What we have seen so far in Ulster is the favourite's are getting their balls slapped so hope this is different and Armagh have taken note of the previous weeks, a sending off or lose goal or two and anything can happen but I expect Armagh to win by 5-6pts as they should have too much for Down

not exactly true as we didnt have any issues against Fermanagh

True, but Fermanagh didn't take the early chances we gave them

The Irish Government are tripping over themselves with money, please send your poor relatives up some coin so we can build this and then tell NI soccer and DUP where to go
