I'm heading over soon. Do you have to tip?
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Pretty much.

If you've a hard neck on you, and you don't plan to go back to an establishment, you could not tip, but it's definitely expected in bars, restaurants and taxis.

After the Biden news, I thought this thread would be about America being at a tipping point!

Seems to be the way even when people do next to nothing to earn it. Pre-tipping the worst. Cashless airports require you to pay for food on an iPad when ordering and want the tip added in advance of receiving the food or service! Away and shite. Even the old 10% benchmark has changed to about 20%.

Whereabouts are you going?

What's your opinion on  tipping in
general?

Went to a restaurant in Galway  on holiday and they had a 10% tip pre added .  I ain't paying that  I says. I'll pay what what I want not  what you want

PS. I tipped them nothing

Double the tax usually suffices, well in California anyway.

It's the ordering from pizza places and the like that piss me off. You order it online, go into pay and pick up and they rotate the till screen around to you to add a tip...away and f**k!

Or the self service filling station, GO wouldn't have the cheek to ask you for 25%

Make sure to read your bill (check) carefully when you're eating/drinking out, as some places add a tip to it, but still leave a line for you to add a tip (i.e., one over and above the one they already added to your bill).

Holy shit, never saw the likes of that before!

It's a completely mad custom over there.  It's gotten out of hand really hasnt it.

Most teachers I know never tip, and those that would (rarely) would be well below the 10% standard

Was first over in the States around 93 and my cousin who lives there warned me jut to tip and fix it into your budget, think they are looking too much at 20% to be fair though.

I'd be more concerned about getting your card skimmed, only times I've ever had bank fraud was after trips to the states
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea
