Fascinatingly so, if also somewhat predictable!

It's all or nothing in here. I wouldn't be a fan of a woman plastered in a full sleeve but clearly there are many good looking women with small tattoos on an ankle or shoulder who won't be impacted in later life.

What would be an example of later life impact?

Quote from: seafoid on September 04, 2024, 09:21:05 PMThe war has been a disaster for Israel.  At last the gaaboard population is pro Palestinian.

Seafoid, the GAA population is undoubtedly Pro Palestinian. We grew up in a partitioned society with the British wrecking the place.

That said, you've been making bold prophetic statements for over a decade now about Israel's demise - that's how you post - and you've yet to hit the mark. Maybe it's time you hung up the speculative boots. They aren't going anywhere.

I say that with no joy at all - its the reality of the political landscape of the western governements.

Its vexing how Pearl Jam keep getting overlooked here lads. Not to flog a dead horse, caught 2 shows at Wrigley Field this weekend. Glen Hansard was the opener. I had no idea Glen rocked so f**king hard. Always thought of him as the folksy type - he absolutely slayed on the guitar and was possibly the best opener I've seen for them in a long time. Apologies Glen, you're a legend.

Seattle produced some top grunge bands, great that Pearl Jam are going as strong as ever, such a shame that lead singers of Sound garden,Alice in Chains Chris Cornell,Layne Staley are no longer with us.

Absolutely. Eddie is the only one still with us, well Billy Corgan as well. We lost Cornell, Staley, Scott Wieland, Shannon Hoon and recently Mark Lanegan.

Speaking of which ,  I just realised we  haven't done Thin Lizzy yet either.

No, I doubt very much they did. Metallica did. Another band for you to consider.

Quote from: thewobbler on September 03, 2024, 08:53:18 PMDon't believe that Pearl Jam are mainstream enough to be a successful source of comments in this hallowed thread. Girls Aloud would gain more traction.

That's not dismissive of Pearl Jam by the way. Some banger tunes. Just the reality of the situation, as we like to say up here.

Yer hole! ;D

Got out of Jail there no doubt. Media would have been riding him hard on why his team wasn't fit and ready for game 1.

Yeah they do it well.

Australia is also a little bit bigger than Ireland.... They are suffering with housing shortages especially in major cities though.

Again - no one gets it right all the time. Disability is going to kick you out without case by case exceptions being made.

Quote from: Would ye whist on July 24, 2024, 11:48:11 AMLadies & Gents,

Bit of a personal one here, however with the stress of work and other issues I have found myself getting to fond of the aul drink to the extent it is causing issues with the wife and I

Have any of you given it up or cut back a lot? If so any tips?

Grateful in advance

Packed it in completely 5 years ago

Best decision I ever made

I was put on a 30 day course of medication where I couldn't drink.  After 30 days I'd lost a few lbs, had zero hangovers and life just felt better all over

My advice would be, assuming you're a beer drinker, switch to Heineken or a Guinness Zero. That way you can still go out and socialize in the normal manner

The hardest part was explaining to people why you weren't drinking so have a cover story ready

Do we really need cover stories? Is there something inherently wrong with saying, I'm trying not to drink or limit my alcohol intake? I think the need for cover story ties in with the Irish psyche that surrounds drinking. That if you don't take a drink there's something wrong with you. I definitely think it is one of the hardest parts of alcohol overuse in our culture.

Quote from: AustinPowers on July 23, 2024, 07:41:01 PMHow would you describe  a dive bar?

Only time I ever heard of it  was in a pet shop boys song

Dark, long, pool table in the back, juke box. Toilet door that doesn't lock. Big stainless steel tub full of ice cold long neck beer bottles where the label just slides off as they pull the beer out of it. At least one of Pabst Blue Ribbon or Miller High Life on tap. Usually have a beer and a shot special for about $8 and they can't keep Jameson Proper 12 now on the shelf.

Quote from: gawa316 on July 23, 2024, 05:51:49 PMPaying for say a $6 pint in a dive bar, you throw the 'lady' a $10 bill and the bitch doesn't come back with any change!

Been swimming in dive bars for 22 years and never once had my change not set down back in front of me. Because that would be theft.
