Found unconscious in April with a ligature around his neck following an internet challenge. Very sad story

We've been here before with Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans. Once again the Christian right has barged into a case where it couldn't give the slightest f**k about the individuals involved to hijack the grief of distraught and vulnerable parents. Parasites.

Didn't know that..

Medics diagnosing him as brain dead and totally reliant on the medical equipment to sustain life with no hope of improvement.

That must be very hard for parents to take in and accept, so can understand why the parents are responding the way they are.

Tough on all concerned.

I think the doctors said that even if the life support was not removed, he would die naturally in a few weeks

The "online challenge" aspect of it has had its share of doubters.

The Christian Legal Centre, which has been supporting the action taken by Archie's parents, said the application submitted to the ECHR is asking it to impose interim measures to postpone life-support being withdrawn, while the UN considers the case.

It's heartbreaking and would send a shiver down the spine of any parent.  Can totally understand why the parents are doing everything they can to hold onto their son but it's only delaying the agony for them.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has refused an application from Archie Battersbee's parents to postpone the withdrawal of his life support.

Life-sustaining treatment for the 12-year-old has been in place since April and was due to be withdrawn earlier.

The family applied to the the ECHR after an appeal against the decision to end treatment was refused by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

But the ECHR said it "would not interfere" with the UK courts' rulings
