Thought it was a great occasion myself...pomp overdose of course... but interesting and welcome all the same

I hope they enjoy it, and the remainder of it.

The cynical bastids among us would think that the British government are using such an occasion to promote a "we are peacemakers" propaganda in light of their latest attempt to "convert" the Libyans,,,not to mention Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine.

I doubt if there will be expressions of sympathy over the death and destruction there

It would be kind of funny if counties/ cities/ towns/ townlands etc could vote to become part of a UI.

Great idea. Why not extend the concept? I'm going to see if our village can join Sweden. Because of our location we'd get all the good bits (a working economy, banks instead of casinoes, low inflation, more public holidays, a great health system, good design, public transport, roads) and none of the bad bits (sub-zero weather, 3 months of 24-hour darkness, loads of Swedes about the place).

Certainly rather have some of these around than Meath heifers women

They some of our Norse cousins I was on about  ;)

No  they are Ros women .. primrose and blue. ;D

Thats a fine belly button blade

just reading through the comments and still see bickering is rife on this topic, of which i am guilty off too.  but
I was brought up in an Irish culture from East Tyrone.  these days we are free to express that culture.

United Ireland talk is complete fantasy,.....how can there be? when a million people aren't interested?.    Ireland and Britain are inextricably linked in culture, comedy, outlook, sports etc..., and weather....and always will be.

Untied Ireland talk is divisive and sectarian

Ireland is free.  everyone on it is free to take their own choice.

Everyone is free to speak their language of choice. The Irish language is up to people to revive.  it is not political

Irish culture is global.

Ireland is not "occupied".  We are all a mix of Irish/British.

ye all watch Emmerdale and Damnation Street anyway.

Tom Elliott is a genius for giving us the only entertainment of an otherwise boring election

I hope the county board keep records of the number of tickets that clubs order for games like this. It might not matter this year but it would be useful if we're involved in big championship games in the future. In 2005 it seemed like every supporter in Tyrone without a ticket had been to "every game all year". Just goes to show how many lpeople there are in Tyrone that will tell lies.

Jaysus TD, 80% of your posts are obsessing about attendances.

Would say that post is more a comment on your average county fan rather than attendances. Just dont understand how people who claim to be fans cant be bothered going to a see their county play in a knockout championship match and will then shout the most if they dont get a ticket later on about how good a supporter they are.

In relation to the game theres no reports of any new injuries. The excuses have gone, its time to deliver. Would be great to see the experienced players like McGuigan discover their old form.

But surely you should be happy theres not as many looking for tickets therefore the super dooper mega supporters get to go? no?

much better to have 5000 at Clones for an Ulster final, than 35000?  sure the 30000 sunshiners don't count - tell them to feck off home - see how long the whole thing lasts

yeah like mayo in '96.  ;)

I must have missed it so when are Dara O Se and Tommy Walsh up in front of the beak or are the reigning All Ireland Champions beyond the remit of the CCC as well as the Sunday Game?

Yes the CCCC only deal with the little people

And what have the Soviets got against Leprechauns?

I live beside a Pizza Hut and the pasta is unbelievable!

Fairly hard to c**k pasta up to be fair!

Hells Pizza does a deadly line (probably literally) in pizza - there a triple cheese stuffed base, a poultice of whatever you want on top, plus cheesy garlic bread bites around the edge - Elvis would have loved it

Trip to Tipp
-More Power to Your Elbow
(not sure if many ppl know it)

'Mothers grab your daughters, please put padlocks on their drawers'

a very apt warning to the mothers in Tipp, considering the clientele mentioned in that song!

A Church is both Catholic and Protestant. Don't know why Catholics call it Chapel. A Chapel is a church within another building, ie a hospital.

CHAPEL OF LOVE
(Jeff Barry / Ellie Greenwich / Phil Spector)

The Dixie Cups - 1964

Also recorded by:
The Ronettes; Bette Midler; Elton John; Robin & Jo McNamara.

Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married

Gee I really love you
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel of love
Spring is here.....
Theeeeee.....
The sky is blue (whoa-ooooo)
Birds all sing
Like they do
Today's the day
We'll say "I do"
And we'll never be lonely anymore
Because we're
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Gee I really love you
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel of love
Bells will ring
The sun will shine (whoa-oooooh)
I'll be his
And he'll be mine
We'll love until
The end of time
And we'll never be lonely anymore
Because we're
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Gee I really love you
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel of love
Going to the chapel of love
Going to the chapel of love ...

Its Chapel Ziggy, "Hospital of Love" doesn't work - the spector has spoken, and we wouldn't want to mess with big Phil
