Quote from: bennydorano on Today at 09:46:06 AMKerry are the one team this year who I've felt have been playing their cards very close to their chest, that or they've just been pretty poor. Seeing that's it's Kerry we'll have to give them the benefit of the  doubt I suppose. I remember thinking Derry had moved ahead of them in the pecking order but the league reslly is just the league. I'd be tempted to back them for the AI at this stage- not that it would be a huge shock if they won.

Joe Kernan said last week that the the only serious teams were Dublin, Armagh, Derry, Mayo and Galway.  We needn't worry about the likes of Donegal and Kerry for Sam, although they are nice to visit.
Would definitely have Donegal ahead of Mayo and maybe Kerry as well at this stage, never rule out the Tyronies as well.

Donegal have beaten one of the teams on that list and drawn with another one. It is hard to say about Kerry, while their group means that they will probably go to a QF, they could have challenges in both the QF and SF.

Perfectly put.
The modern business phenomenon of trying to clean as much money off people as possible is one we could do without in the GAA.

Out of interest, where is it you believe all this money goes? Is it all packaged up in brown envelopes in headquarters? Or is Jarlath the mercenary pocketing it?

Surely if that was the way of it they would have been better of keeping the cash at turnstiles set up, or maybe that's where Supervalu & Centra come in (it may shock you that you can still take cash out from under the mattress and head in to your local store to purchase a ticket for the game)?

Quote from: trueblue1234 on Today at 11:35:59 AMQuick question on age eligibility. In lgfa a child can play one go games age group above their own group (up to u13 in Tyrone). And 2 levels above their group at competitive level - u14 upwards. Would a 12 year old who's playing u13 go games and u14 competitive, be eligible to play u16 as well? As Theres no older go game age group, would she be allowed to play the 2 age groups above at competitive games?

From the 2023 Official Guide:
Underage players can only play in their own age group at Inter-County level for U-14 and
U-16 (Effective 1st January 2024).
At County U-18 level, players may play in their own age group and one grade above. Over
18 grade is deemed an adult grade.
At club level, underage players can only play in their own age group and two grades above
it with grades deemed as Under 12, 14, 16 and 18. All grades Under 10 can only play one
grade above. An Under 8 can play Under 8 and 10. An Under 10 can play Under 10 and
12. An Under 12 can play Under 12, 14, 16. An Under 14 can play Under 14, 16 and 18. An
Under 16 can play Under 16, 18 and Adult and Under 18 can play Under 18 and Adult.

At Inter-County and Club level, players must firstly play and train with their own age group.

Personally, I would have serious reservations with an u12 (potentially P7) playing at u16 level (5th years) but it isn't against the rules.  I don't think go-games is a factor as the LGFA deem the age groups at U12, u14 etc.

Thought the Spurs fans were pathetically funny last night. Cheering on a Man City victory to stop Arsenal winning the league even though it also meant that they would fail to qualify for the CL. If ever there was a more suitable time for the phrase turkey's voting for Christmas

Considering there's far more options now to spend less (a few quid on GAAGo to stream a game if its not on terrestrial TV) and stay at home rather than the much heftier expense of travelling to the games , how exactly are the GAA  trying to clean as much money as possible when they're showing far more games now than in the past?

If you buy a qualifier batch ticket you're getting 3 games for the price of 2.

Also, take into considerarion 83% of this money goes back out the door. The more that comes in, the more goes out

Quote from: skat man on Today at 09:35:53 AMwhy would anyone in Down want to become a referee when they seen how our best ref was treated and after all the talk of rigorous investigation its now been brushed under the carpet and why would the county board not hush it when the clubs and current referees stand by and let that happen.

Not sure it was brushed under the carpet as I think the outcomes were shared with the referees during a meeting at the start of the year.

One of Paul Faloons requests to have all championship referee's mic'd up and recorded is to be introduced this year I believe.
