Don't think that's the case when it's spread over a few countries

Quote from: NAG1 on March 04, 2024, 08:53:48 AMAnyone else finding the Fibrus Antrim MOTM award slightly cringeworthy?

I assume there is a reason they can't give the award to the opposition, especially outside the 6 counties.

Is the award a broadband package of some description ? But I agree, last week for example when the hurlers lost by 25 points and an Antrim player has to stand and accept a MOTM award

Another fairly turgid display today, Westmeath always had their noses in front but are nothing special.

We didn't help ourselves with a couple of really clear cut goal chances not taken. How McEnhill didn't score is beyond me

If you increased the salary you may attract a better quality of candidate into teaching

Quote from: trueblue1234 on February 29, 2024, 10:30:45 AMIs this pay parity not a bit of a red herring? Are all careers not better paid in the uk than here? I know in general on the engineering/ manufacturing side there is around at least a 10% uplift with similar roles in England (Not including London where it's sharper again). But cost of living here is much lower.

I agree with you that all careers are better paid in the UK but I don't think the argument that the cost of living is much lower holds anymore. Maybe in Rural NI with cheaper houses but not in the greater Belfast area.

House prices in Belfast are similar to many northern English cities, childcare costs here are higher here, going out is more expensive, bills probably the same, groceries more expensive. what exactly is cheaper here compared to Northern England, Scotland or Wales?

Council tax v rates ?

Prescription charges

Water charges

Quote from: p3427977 on February 25, 2024, 08:23:13 PMSo 4.5% for NICS and £1500 below G6.

Not sure that would be accepted, I had heard late on Friday no offer on the table yet, as Translink have been made an offer of more than 5%
Looks like they're still getting the 5% but with £1500.

I'd be very unhappy with 4.5% if I'm being honest.

It'll be pushed through no matter what the Union say or do.

Where did you hear about the 4.5%?

Quote from: LC on February 25, 2024, 06:37:49 PMHow is it Antrim can push Dublin all the way one week and then get annihilated the following week?

Galway are a good bit better than that Dublin team that fielded in Corrigan (who should be a bit better with Chris Crummey and Donal Burke playing yesterday)

I remember being in Lisburn years ago and he was doing a walk around, must have been coming up to local elections & honestly you would have thought it was JFK ffs at the height of his popularity.

I'm not a Hurling man , but I liked listening to Donal Og  in the past , but he has turned into Brolly  in recent years

He's nowhere near as bad as Brolly. I haven't heard him making the spiteful personal attacks, unlike Brolly. Who is turning slowly but surely into Ewan MacKenna

He's right about Swann, just using the Health post as a shop window to try and get into Westminster

Westminster is more lucrative and it definitely looks like Swann has his sights set there. The expenses and perks far outweigh anything Stormont can provide.

And much less hassle
