Was wondering that myself David.

On a related note I thnk the Gooch should be commended for not going to ground and pretending he was dead
commended for what? for constantly badgering the ref the whole game, yapping like a baby? the decision was correct to send off kavanagh, but commend gooch for what? he was gone about a second before the "kick" came ::)

What is there left to say about this squad of players? The major doubt coming in to the came was that the Dublin performance was a one-off, a dying kick from our most formidable outfit. The first half today reinforced the opposite. Something happened in the last 2 years that will probably be explained in time. We cannot blame injuries any more because Tyrone have got there without O'Neill, Cavlan and Mulligan. Players like McCullagh, Penrose and T McGuigan who looked a level below the players we'd lost are now proving themselves to be class acts at the highest level. Perhaps it was the hunger in players like Ricey, the Block, Jordan and co that just wasn't sharp in '06/07. Maybe it was the need to allow times for new players to gel into the 'system'. But what we have now is another side in the All-Ireland final after blitzing Dublin and notching 0-23 in an All-Ireland semi final. 0-23 from a side most of us worried where scores were going to come from earlier in the year!

Jordan, McMenamin and McCullagh were majestic today. I though McCullagh's play was as good as Brian McGuigan's used to be (the possible exceptions being on McGuigan's exceptional days like the AIF05). His confidence on the ball to take as much out of it until he had a clear pass was wonderful to watch. He took his points almost as a last resort! I'd imagine Kerry will give Colm no time on the ball. He was our impish/waspish play-maker today. Jordan, from the first minute to the last, was the man who drove this team. He covered every blade and his direct approach was as good as you'll see from Tomas O'Se. McMenamin was also a driven man today and involved himself in the majority of attacks from defence. Gormley fairly kept tabs on the majority of Wexford's danger men though I thought he stood off slightly for the goal. Justin McMahon is a footballer first and foremost and for a fullback that's reassuring. He's as equally comfortable soloing up the sideline as he is breaking the high ball. I thought we saw another positive side to Tommy's game today. Some of his ball retention was of the highest class, especially when Gourley was throwing up some 50/50s. McGinley maintained his decent form although Holmes waned early on. Still, Mickey is always quick to change in that area and Hughes, despite trying to shoot, was adequate. Dooher's in form and Penrose offered a useful option on the break. Sean was double-teamed, sometimes trebled but still managed to provide a dangerous outlet. Only he went off he could easily have ended with 0-6/0-7.

The Wexford comeback was fitting of a side that had reached the AISF, although I honestly believe the one-and-a-half matches of completely dominating the opposition finally got to Tyrone and their levels dropped a little - it'll do Tyrone no harm to have a slight scare.

Hats off to Mickey and this squad. Some wonderful passages of football, as good as there has been under Mickey. Not in my wildest dreams did I expect Tyrone at this years AIF.
my friend, please dont try and tell me that kevin hughes is up to this level anymore, hes brutal, has been for years, cant figure out how hes still around ;)

Benny Coulter scored 4.8 this championship

Cant see him getting many more though so hes ruled outta my bet!

Didn't know that was up to date so cheers. Sheehan not even there in top seven.

Mattie Forde only still active in c'ship of those. Chances are though he might only get one more game. Hmmm, interesting.

Sheehan has 20 points which would mean he would need 12 points from the next two games... Is his frees worth that? 4/1 shot. Forde 2/1 might offer more value.
Sean Cavanagh has scored 2-14 so far,,,not even listed,,,,crazy! ::)

O'Mahony should be suspended for bringing the game into disrepute. if a tyrone player did that they would be calling for his head.

You mean like Dooher against Westmeath??

dooher took a decent blow to the midriff area. that today was a playful slap.
and went down holding his face
Look you fool, he held his face for a second because he had a previous knock on the head ( I think he banged it on the shower curtain the nite before). Most players when they go down, will hold or cover their face, its a simple reaction,,,,,,,,,,,remember Peter Cananvan tearing the ligaments in his ankle in the 2003 semifinal agianst Kerry. When he went down visibly distressed, he pulled a bandage from his HEAD, and covered his face...its a REACTION YOU FOOL........omahoneys was disgraceful :-[

Quotethink most people are disgusted with omahony cos he was held in quite high regard before the game and now just elt himself down.shame that 1 second can destroy a players rep but thats the price u pay

O'Mahoney has been at this sort of stuff in every game Mickey - as bad as Galvin and thats saying something. He had no reputation to destroy but at least was shown up today for what he is. Unfortunately this Kerry team have a few players who while good footballers are also thoroughly dislikeable characters - Galvin and O'Mahony are two of them and Cooper and Donaghy also do their share of mouthing and annoying stuff.

As least we should hear no more about negative Ulster football - todays game was largely a shambles and the word "puke" came to mind a few times.
still havn't read one post in regards to Kieran Donaghy GOADING Hayes while he was preparing and taking the penalty.

QuoteYou're completely missing the point. It's not that players cannot field the ball any more. It's that the game has moved on in terms of athleticism, fitness and tactics that players don't now sit, qawk and admire a clean field by an opposing player. You now need to use quickness of thought and off-load or else it'll be a turn-over. It took Tyrone to teach Kerry that lesson in 2003. They did learn it and it's simply down to Mickey Harte and Tyrone that Kerry have now managed to bring their game up to the notch required in the modern era. Their hammerings in 2001, 2002 and 2003 happened no more. You should be thankful.

Tyrone never have, and never will, teach Kerry anything about Gaelic football. They simply demonstrate the lengths negative footballing counties will go to to stop us playing. They get lucky every now and then as we adapt,  Down in the 60's and Armagh and Tyrone in the modern era being a case in point.

We all know how much these sides resent not getting the "credit" they feel they deserve but if you will never get that respect as long as you continue to destroy our once beautiful game.
FFS, go and get laid or something, man you talk some muck >:(

Cluxton conceded 3 goals to Tyrone ??

Doesn't matter a damn.  He's still "the best in the business" according to Darragh Moloney and McStay.

And these people are paid for their opinions!
and there opinions before the game were that Tyrone , would be beat up the road :o I guess they got that wrong, nice to be paid for knowing nothing!

Hey lads – just thought I'd bung in my own tuppence worth.

Personally, it was the most disappointing day I've ever had in Croker – and believe you me, there's been a few over 25 years.

The manner of our defeat was the worst thing about it. I don't believe that we are that bad. But a few factors played against us.

The weather doesn't particularly suit our style of play. Alan going off was a big blow. And a lot of our bankers, guys who'll always put it in, no matter how bad things are going, didn't have it on the day. Tactically, we got it wrong on the line. And mentally, again, I'd say we didn't handle the occasion.

But the biggest factor was that we came up against a side that no matter what the tactical system employed, believed in themselves and their ability to execute. Some of the football played was absolutely scintillating – how many times did they work space with a couple of handpasses, followed by a cutting 20 yard foot pass leaving a Tyrone forward with acres in front of him on the half forward line. They were tight in defence, they were fluid in attack and I don't believe many teams could have lived with them.

Puke football is a phrase I have never used about Tyrone. I still rate their 2005 performances as the most complete of any team this decade. I think Dublin's performance still leaves a little bit of a question mark as to whether they are quite at that level yet. I hope that the next two games show that they are.

The Tyrone fans I sat near where passionate and vocal – and magnanimous to us as the game neared its end. I wished them well and that goes to the Tyrone posters on this board as well. But no one I was sitting near was baying for a red for Whelan, just as we weren't going mad for Cavanagh's head. This was a brutal day, poor conditions, with two big, hard men, taking it and dishing it out. That for me is the way football should be played.
Yellows for both seemed about right.

And if it is Ciaran's last game – well perhaps it is a compliment to him that so many outside the county dislike him – for me, he was a footballer who always gave it his all for his county, and gave us far more happy memories than disappointing ones. He's not the first Dublin footballer to end up without an all Ireland medal and won't be the last – but, if he leaves, he'll always be remembered.

Besides, as Ronnie Drew's death, the news of which swept around the stadium, shows it was only a football match that was won and lost and there are more important things in life.

Good luck to Tyrone for the rest of the championship.

Up the Dubs.

great post :)

... He'll definately start with the only possible change being PJ Quinn coming into corner back.

He broke his collar bone playing with Errigal last week TD.
PAUL Quinn broke his collarbone, not PG Quinn, who plays for Moortan ::)
